There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Does anyone know whether a composite brake pad can be used on the Spyder? If so, what should I be looking for and is there a recommended manufacturer? Thanks

Little checking..!!

home page..BajaRon...has all you need with all the data. Really need brakes alread..?? If you don't go there most look for the EBC brake pads..really don't know if there are others...brp and EBC...maybe someone else has more info...

There are only 2 kinds of pads made for the 2008-2012 Can-Am Spyder. Organic and Semi-Sintered. The 2013-14 Spyders have additional brake pad compound options.

The original Spyders came with Semi-Metallic pads but I don't think you can find these anymore.

The original Semi-Metallic pads stopped the best but were crazy noisy. So BRP came out with Organic pads. Organic pads resolve the noise issue at the expense of stopping power and longevity. Organic pads are made with a mixture of fibers , usually including Kevlar. I've seen adds on eBay touting 'Kevlar' brake pads. People are led to believe they are getting something special when in reality, it's nothing different at all.

Here is a good article on brake pads.

EBC makes both an Organic and a Semi-Sintered pad for the 2008-2012 Spyder. I don't bother with the Organic pads. They are inexpensive but they don't work any better than the OEM BRP pads. I do carry the Semi-Sintered version because they come pretty close to stopping as well as the original Semi-Metallic but without all the noise.

Ron,
since he was asking about an ST-L; is the REAR brake the same, as previous year bikes?
Do you have anything for the Brembos up front?

:agree: The OEM brakes didn't work well when stopping. The Semi-Sintered brakes I bought from BajaRon work a lot better. Every thing I have bought from him was made of high quality materials and he ships fast.

I'm going to claim old age on this one. Completely missed the target! Time to buy a shotgun to increase my odds.

The info I gave works for the 2008-2012 everything. But you're right Bob (why is it so hard to say that?), The 2013/14 is a whole other ball game. Both front and rear are Brembo and I've got pads for these as well.

For the 2013/14 Spyders I have the Semi-Sintered and the high performance HH pads. There are a few who have purchased the HH pads, 1 set installed that I know of. But I have not gotten any feedback yet. Rest assured, if they were not happy I would know right away. Just human nature. So I'm pretty confident that they are working. But I'd like to have some definite feedback before I go any further with my opinion.

However, the HH pads have been around for quite some time and have a very good reputation.
