• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake Failure Warning

Has anyone experienced their Parking Brake light failing to shut off, when being disengaged; followed by a Brake Failure warning message appearing on the instrument display...?

This has happened to me once before. I took the RT into the shop, and they were never able to determine the cause. All the pads were good, the system was fully functional, and there were no fluid leaks. Well... it happened again yesterday. And I don't have a clue...

Anyone have any ideas...?

There was a service bulletin a while ago for replacement of the parking brake spring. Was yours replaced? You can get the brake failure light if your fluid is low but I don't think the parking brake light stays on if that is the case. Does your brake actually set? When I had the problem with the spring/cable I would go to set my brake and the light would go on but the brake wouldn't actually set. Then I would get the failure message. Take it back to the dealer and have them check the cable and springs.

Break Failure Warning

I own an 2010 RS SE5 and the break warning light stays until I have to snap the parking break pedal to the off position to get the light to go off and, hope that the parking is really off.

Ann,

actually, the fluid level is at it's mark. the parking
brake does engage and release, and the full brake
function was checked when the problem first
popped itself up. and that is what has me confused.

not sure it's a no-brainer solution, vs some huge
techincal issue.

I have the exact same issue on my 08 GS SE5. Brake Failure message and parking brake idiot light on all the time. I checked the fluid as well as adjusted the park brake but to no avail. Park brake sets fine and holds. Regular brakes work fine. :dontknow: So I'm off to the dealer in the morning to see what they say.
