Well, back in Jan. when I got my one ride in during that bad weather and snow, my brake failure light came on. I was hoping it was just a glitch. I got home and added brake fluid hoping that would be that. Well, the stinking weather has been so bad that I haven't had a chance to ride until this week. What glorious weather we finally got for Feb. I did a test ride on Sunday, I rode to work on Mon and Tuesday and still that stupid brake failure light and scrolling message just wouldn't go away. I finally broke down and took it to the dealership on Wed. knowing I was going to miss some more good riding days. But better to get it fixed now than when it is really nice. I got a call on Friday that it was ready and sure enough my brakes needed to be replaced. I don't think all of them really needed it but one of my front pads was truly down to the metal. There were a lot of gouges in the other pads as well. Here are some photos, not sure how well they turned out. But you can definitely tell that one pad was in danger mode. That may also explain, the horrible grinding sound I was getting when I put on my brakes.
I think the rear brakes could have lasted much longer but when you consider the cost of labor and another trip to the dealership, it was easier to just have him replace everything at once.
