I got the dreaded "Brake Failure" error message last week, it showed up at start up without touching the brake or the emergency brake being enabled. I checked the tank, its filled to the top, then took it back to the local dealer. Two days of brake bleeding and now they say it needs a master cylinder, by the way the bike is a 2008 with 5k miles. The bike had no reduction of brake pedal or stopping power, Does this sound right or is the dealer blowing smoke.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, not sure about the smoke. Most of the time I've seen through the shop have just been sensor issues, but I guess anythings possible. If your concerned about being lied to just ask to see the remove faulty part. It usally takes a few weeks before they get shipped back. So this should get you the truth.

The res. is filled to the tippy top so thats not it and the dealer didnt seem to want to talk about sensors, I asked about that , and he kept saying the only time they've ever seen this problem it was the Master cylinder. I asked if they could hook a computer up to it see where the errror was coming from but he said no.

There was another owner here with a bad sensor... I would have them check it.

When the dealer says something like that, ask them why they feel that is the case. If they say that BUDS indicates low brake pressure, even with the brake reservoir properly filled, and they say they have already checked the pressure sensor, they are probably right. If they say something like "Just because..." find a new dealer. In short, it always pays to get a detailed answer, with book and verse about why they want your money.

Does your dealer even have the BUDS? You HAVE to use it to bleed the brakes properly. I had the same problem, good brakes, bad message. Hooked it up to the BUDS and it revealed the brake pressure was low because of air in the lines.
