• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake Failure - C1282 - Fixed!

I finally corrected the "BRAKE FAILURE" message that's been scrolling across the display on my '08 GS for months. There was never anything wrong with the brakes - the message just appeared for no apparent reason. The error code was C1282 - Low Brake Pressure. Turns out the problem was a flaky connection in the brake pressure switch connector. Unplugged it, plugged it back in and everything was happy. Glad I didn't have to bleed brakes...

BTW - a C1282 can be reset by the operator - it doesn't require BUDS. Here's the procedure:

LPS fault c1282 reset

1 turn Ignition switch off
2 wait 30 seconds
3 turn Ignition switch on
4 firmly press brake pedal untill you hear a click from the LPS switch
Note , the 1st click will come from the brake light switch. Continue to strongly press to hear a 2nd click. This one wiil come from the low pressure switch
5 Turn Ignition switch off

this is the kind of info we need. Many will remember and pass it on or know where to search for it...thanks..!! :2thumbs:

great help for Oz

I thought I'd let you know that your info was re-posted on an Australian facebook site to help out a fellow who had the exact same problem, and was scratching his head seeking a solution.
As he said in good Strine, "I'll be buttered" -- it worked.
So thanks for posting!

I have the same or similar problem. Brake Fluid levels were fine, but I put a bit extra in just in case. Still cannot reset the "Brake Failure' alarm on dashboard. Thought I'd give this "fix" a try, but .....
I do have a manual, but it's not apparent (to me) where this "brake pressure switch connector" actually is. Can anyone point me in the correct direction.

Thanks and regards,
John Kennedy

I guess this is it, but does that three wire connector just pull out - it looks like it's molded in?
