• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Hello all

I have just bought a 2012 Spyder RT AC. I have never owned a bike of any kind before, well other then an ATV. I had a few questions about some parts I would like to add.
First is there a more comfortable seat?
Also looking for a driver backrest and driver floorboards.
Is there only one spyder fest each year?

My Wife and I are going on our first big trip with our spyder to Florida on May 26th for a week.

Congrats on your new Spyder. My wife and I were completely new to bikes and that may off to your advantage--no relearning from a 2-wheeler. You're going to find a ton of advice on seats here from Corbin and Ultimate (both can be bought with a backrest). It's a sizable investment but who can put a price on comfort. Use the search feature on the forums once you login for seats. It's best to find one you can sit on first. Some aftermarket seats have a reputation for being firm and require a break-in period. You can also just keep your current seat and get a Utopia driver's backrest.

Floorboards are the same...several options available

Rivco has an option coming in July apparently as well.

I'm sure more people can provide more information but the form Search field once logged in is your best friend! Welcome to the family.

:welcome: and :congrats:

Yes, there is only one SpyderFest each year. There's also the BRP Owners' Event, which is in Maggie Valley, NC in June this year. There are other regional rallies and you can learn about them here on SpyderLovers. This is my first Spyderfest and my first rally. But I believe it's the only one with so much vendor presence.

Congrats

My wife and I bought our :spyder2: about 6 weeks ago. We also had never riden motorcycles before.
We're planning our first big trip to the Black Hills in July, but we're going to trailer up and use the :spyder2: for our day trips.

You might want to add Elka shocks and a Bajaron sway bar to your wish list. They make a big difference in the handling and stablility of your new toy.

Enjoy

Some answers to your questions

You will see several listed and also some regional groups trying to establish one.

If you want to talk seats both Corbin and Ultimate have outlets in Ormond Beach where I just happen to be at.

We also have a Can-Am dealer who is very up on various seat manufacturers. And a dealer for both.

So put us on your stop list while your traveling!

You will also find spyderlovers.com to be a wonderful source of good information both regional, national and international.....

:welcome: Recommend putting a thousand or so miles before you start to farkle up your :spyder2:.

RE: Seat The answer is O Yes! The OEM seat is pretty soft for most and is usually the first item that is changed out. BRP makes a "comfort seat" which sells for around $500. Other aftermarket seats come in at $750 plus. Most go with Corbin seats, Ultimate Seats, or Russel Day Long seats. I have purchased two Corbins and two Comfort seats for my :ani29:,s

RE: Backrests. Utopia makes a generic backrest that works well on the Comfort seat. Other brands usually have their own special backrests.

RE: Floorboards. Sealfloorboards (a site sponser) makes the ones that I like. They have long and short versions and run about $500. Very easy to install. Currently on both of my :spyder2:'s. There are other floorboards on the SL site--but I have not used any of those.

Events: Only one Spyderfest--but there are other owners events. Just keep watching the site for information.

Hey charlton: what city u coming to in Florida???

:2thumbs: on getting in on the fun. There will be plenty of rallies to go to this year, Spyderfest is the grand daddy of them all. One common get together is called the RTE (ride to eat). We have a small group here in upstate NY that likes to get together just about every weekend or so to go somewhere. We generally have one member pick the route and go from there. Whatever you do, make sure you ride as often as possible, I have found that it lowers your blood pressure by about 15 points.

Just sayin'............

Ride Awhile Before you start adding

I found I needed to stretch my legs a bit and finally added the pegs you see below. Lemonster sells these and they're easy to install and reasonably priced. I use them more than the standard foot pegs.

Welcome

Web boards are great! The sway bar best bang for the buck. Ultimate seat spendy but, my butt loves it! Crank up your shocks to 4 or 5 for better riding.

Happy trails.:ani29:

Thanks everyone for all the info. I have already learned a lot from this site, after messing around and reading I found out that I was being to easy with the engine, I guess the spyder likes it rough because now the ride seems to be more smooth.
