• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Blank Key

Go to a locksmith and tell them you need an Ilco x270 key blank in order to have a spare key made. It will work perfectly as an uncoded key. Same key blank used on a Triumph motorcycle. Cheaper than eBay!

Yes it will, Also if you have a coded key close bye, It will start the Spyder.

Ok, I'ver been wondering about this. Have you actually done this. Ithink that would be the thing to have if you wanted an IPS. You could just leave it in all the time and not have to worry about someone stealing it.

I thought I had read about being able to do this, but wasn't for sure. Now I know. Thanks for the info. I will post my findings when I get around to finding a locksmith with the right blank. Thanks for the info.

I have been meaning to get a key made to try it out but have been so busy I haven't been able to yet. I think I can get it done late this week or early next week( i'm on vacation and my honey do list is small).

But you still need to keep a coded key nearby...I don't think I see the logic in this.

I have done this for years with my GWRRA key. Works great.
one caveats however. The world is full of people who look for ways to do damage to other peoples property and what nicer way to do so than to break a key off in your ignition.

My vote is nay nay.

If you have the IPS it is kind of bulky. so it hard to put in your pocket dip of you had a blackKetty on the ips you could carry the regular Ketty on your Paley and leave the ips in the ignition

I had a spare uncoded key. I used it a few weeks ago on my way home from Spyderfest. I misplaced my key but carry my spare in the trunk which was locked. The uncoded key got me into the trunk so I could retrieve my spare. It is handy.

If we can find one of these blanks from an outside source, could we just take it to anyone who can cut a key and have them put the right "notches" in it?
We don't actually have professional locksmiths in my neck of the woods; the kid looked at me like I was speaking in Martian to him...

I don't see why you couldn't. They might need a more sophisticated machine since it is a double cut key.

Ok, I had my wife go and get a non coded key made for the spyder. She went home and tried it and her are the results.
she actually ahd to have the coded key almost close enough to touch the non-codeed key to get it to crank. it would not work with the regular key in her pocket.

I checked a couple key shops in my area and no one had blanks. I ended up ordering a pack of 10 blanks online for .99 cents each. I'll keep a couple to have cut and if it works out I'll share them with my riding group.

Hey Macca, do you mind posting the info on the site you ordered your blanks from. Thanks.

So I received my bag of 10 blanks and today had 2 of the blanks cut.
They work great for what I wanted them for, just a spare to open both front and rear trunks.
Many times I have started the bike and forgot to unlock the rear trunk, having then to shut the bike down again just to open the rear trunk.

With the original coded key in my shirt pocket I did try to start the bike with newly cut key.
It wouldn't start. I assume the coded key needs to be just on top of the blank key to start the bike like a magic wand. It's not what I wanted the blanks for anyway.

Here is the website I purchased the blanks from.
