• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BITTEN BY THE RATTLER

After waiting for some friends from Georgia that never showed, we headed to Lamonts at about 1:00. We figured we had better take the short route (209), that was a mistake. We didn't realize it was the Rattler until later that day. After about 2 and a half hours later we made it to the BBQ at 3:30. Most were gone, no food in site, looked like an episode of The Shadetree Mechanic, we turned around and headed back to Maggie. We had a great time at the OE though, met a lot of nice folks.

We were just gearing up to leave when I saw you pull out. Now I know why I didn't see you AT the BBQ.. :banghead:

Our cabin was on 209, about 6 miles south of Hot Springs. We didn't know that was the "Rattler" until we rode down to the OE on Thursday.
After 2 trips up, and 2 trips down, I wanted to stop at that store to get a sticker and a patch..

Yeah my arms were like rubber when we got to Lamont's.

I like the Rattler. Have the sticker and T shirt to prove it. I prefer it over the Dragon. First time we rode it was at the 2011 OE. Rode to Hot Springs with a few other Spyder Ryders. Had lunch while the rains poured down. Rode the very wet Rattler back to MV. Had a ball leaving some two wheelers behind on the curves coming back. Second time (or third) was last year when we went to Lamonts BBQ. We all rode from Greeneville TN to MV.

Love riding the 209 and 208. Better than the Dragon... but too many slow Spyders on the way to Lamont's to hit it very hard...;).

SethO and I did get to tear some of it up though before catching up with the long line of Spyders on their way too.

A few years ago I rode it with Music Arcade (Tom) and had a blast as traffic was light and most locals are cool about pulling over to let faster traffic through.

Didn't know they had shirts/patches......

I love the Rattler

we did a group ride friday morning fromthe event grounds and the group leader allowed all the 'adventure seekers' to go out ahead of the main group so we had it all to ourselves - there were about 12 of us that took advantage of it and had a great time pushing our limits and limitations

and yes, I totally agree that the Rattler makes the Tail of the Dragon seem like a straight road...... lol

If you upgrade your shocks to Works Performance or Elkas, it will make the bike do the work rather than your arms;)

I have a 2012 RSS so I think I have Fox shocks. I am not sure if there are better ones but I might check out the heavy duty sway bar.

I have not ridden the dragon, but before when I had the stock shocks on my 2010 RT, got the rubber arms riding my first Berts Canyon Cruise in the SanGabrielMountains, after adding heavier duty shocks, it was so much more enjoyable, You might be right to adding a beefed up Baja Ron Swaybar, if the Fox shocks didn't do the trick:thumbup:

Glad to know we weren't the only ones that got late!!! nojoke

When we started doing the Rattler, it was almost 5pm. We stopped in Hot Springs for dinner and headed back. It was almost 9pm when we got to Ferguson's supply which they have Rattler stuff for sale. Unfortunately, when we got there, it looked like it was closed and there were some "yahoo" (for lack of a better term) farmers in their tractors drinking beers and started making stupid comments like "kan yous make a willy off 'dem things?" so we took off!

However, I found that you can get some of it online: http://fergusonssupply.com/catalogue/

Up in that neck of the woods, you want to turn your music off if you stop. If you start to hear background banjo music, it's time to leave. :roflblack:

2 Hispanics and 2 Philippinos rYding on reversed trikes... yeah, I think we left some skid marks!:roflblack:

Tell me a little bit more about this "Rattler" It sounds like it's more fun than picking on your kid sister when nobody's looking! :D
Where is it? How long is it? And how many turns does it have?

I did at Lamonts BBQ and believe me when I say I noticed the difference in the 1 st turn I made upon leaving. This is especially true if you are riding two up. It seemed like the turns were effortless as compared to before. I am a Believer.

Honored !!!
