• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bike leaning??

Okay, I admitted I was wrong in my previous post. I was thinking about this when you mentioned tie rod. I didn't look up what BRPs tie rod was and I didn't read your description of what your issue was close enough.

It is not you needing to admit being incorrect. I am sorry if I gave that impression. I was typing my response to your original post as it seemed you had been posting yours and it was not on my screen at the time. I too thought of the original Tie Rod when ordering the part. I struggled with it as well.

My issue is more and more veterans on this forum seem to be jumping to conclusions, or are stubborn and decide to just disagree with many newer members posts.

Speaking from personal experience here... Just like when I posted about the DPS and how much better my Spyder was and the changes it brought... Nooooo I had to be wrong. Then low and behold when others got the new DPS THEY felt very similar results and all of the sudden they are right. Same darn thing with the 2011 shocks on the RT vs. the 2010... "No way they can have a profound effect on the RT.. They are just shocks" says the handful of veterans.

Yep... No way another human being can have an opinion or be accurate. Only the select few veterans can be...

That is frustrating. Especially when may of the veteran members are very knowledgeable and we need to learn from them. But this blatant blah blah crap before verifying the legitimacy of another members post is not helping the community.

No I just got the bike last month....it's a 2011 rss with 480 miles on it.....how do I check the settings?

When I sit on the bike it feels fine...it's not until I start driving when the leaning starts....could I just be delusional?

Check out the things mentioned above - look for damage, check tire pressures, check shocks. If all check out, it's likely the crown of the road.

:joke: Here's a crazy idea: Trying going to a nice empty and flat parking lot (like at a school on the weekend) and ride around and see if you still feel like you are leaning. If you do, try taping a level across your handlebars, start in a nice level spot and ride straight and glance down at it if you get that leaning feeling.

My vote is for delusional! :helpsmilie:

Seriously, have it checked out.

Doug, I figured you were talking about the sway bar connection. Like BJT, I was not aware that BRP called it a tie rod. That is confusing of course, since the steering link that connects to the front spindles has been called a tie-rod for over a century. Failure of a steering tie-rod would cause a wheel to become uncontrollable, but failure of the sway bar tie-rod could easily cause the leaning being experienced, as well as some handling issues. Thank for posting the picture for clarification, that should help the new rider in his inspection.

Oh wow, thanks everyone for the posts!!

I will check all this stuff just as soon as I get off work today. I hope it is just the tire pressure and it seems that may be the most plausible....I am not so sure it would be the "crown" because I am driving all over the place and have noticed this

I can visually see that the minutes and seconds button are not "level" with each other..then when I get off the bike they look more level

Of course if there really is no problem I could have tricked myself into thinking they arent level

At first I thought it was my g/f leaning to the right side because she rides with me alot...but I notice it when she is not on the bike as well...

IWN2RYD, I own a GS/RS and my manual shows a tie rod,(photo page 452) called a tie rod (imagine that!). The part you refer to is called, (page 452) a link rod. I don't know how the nomenclature works on those hi-falutin' new RTs, maybe you are right. Anyhow, could you cut us site veterans a bit of slack? We don't always get it right, but we try.

Give them a break? hahaha What about those they keep doing this to? lol... :dontknow::p

Anyway... The link I provided is the official BRP (Microfish ) and their information. Every single GS/RS in that link shows #26 as the Tie Rod.

That in itself causes confusion. I argued with the BRP tech for a few moments when they told me it was a tie rod....... No not that part this part that ..... hahahahaha In the end the tech had been right and I was wrong :opps:

Well, so long as you got the right part, I guess it worked out OK. For what it's worth though, I think you had it right in the first place and the techie was quoting a typo on the microfiche. In the BRP manual chapter on steering, under the heading "Tie-rod installation", it gives the tie-rod maximum length, from pitman arm side to steering knuckle side, as 23.42 inches. Then again, under the heading "stabilizer bar removal", it says, " unscrew stabilizer bar from link rods" and shows a picture. It seems there is a discrepancy between BRP's manual and their parts microfiche.
