Must be . . . . .
Amazing that the 'entry level Pro' version is $1700 !:yikes:
. . . . Ultimate Special Editions, and they are disposable too. Don't you just love marketing people.
I agree with Firefly, these are over the top expensive. There are tons of alternatives, but you will have to find the one that personally fits you and your situation. I hope those on the forum who have written about this in the past chime in and give you their favorites.
Personally, I use a pair of Etymotic's ER-6i s (with foam inserts) and really like them. When evaluating this type of thing, I always read what the Headroom (
http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/in-ear-monitor/ ) has to say about them. ( they love the Ultimate Ears ).
But, your windshield, helmet, and riding style will dictate how well anything like this will work. A shame to spend thousands on these and then still have a problem with hearing the wind howl through bone induction. Or even worse, breaking them when taking off your helmet.
If your ears are that good and your wallet that fat, I would work my way up to them. Get the bike basics (windshield and helmet) tamed first, then see what works and what does not in the ear protection / headphone categories (cheaper alternatives) and then go for it if they look like they will work and they will make you happy.
Oh, try and find out how long these generally last and what maintenance they require. I have always found the cables on these type of things to be a problem one way or the other.
