There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Big Bore Kits

Does anyone have experience with Big Bore kits- (not specifically on a Spyder)? Are the performance gains significant?

sorry- meant NOT specifically on a Spyder.

Didn't think about the heat though. I'm just trying to understand the concept.

My husband had one on his Streetglide along with a compression kit. Performance was significantly more but mpg went down the tank. He said he wouldn't do it again.

I've had big bore kits on my ATV's and Dirtbikes. Just doing a big bore alone doesn't generally yield a whole lot, mostly torque but often you lose some rev's and it revs a bit slower.

I found better gains in going with a higher compression piston and wilder cam profile with some mild porting. Also, there may be restrictions in how well it breathes, a larger carb (assuming carburated) and less restrictive pipe/exhaust and possible oversized valves may also yield some good gains.

Of course it all depends on the specific motor you're talking about, each one benefits from all these mods differently.

Oh, it also depends on where (in the powerband) you want your power.

Has anyone seen a big bore kit for the Spyder?

Myself I do love torque. Torque down low = winning traffic light grandprix everytime! :2thumbs:

The F1 and motogp boys would beg to differ
RPM * Torque = power

Upping either has the same effect with proper gearing

The lemans circuit is won by high torque diesels

I personally like the peaky high revving powerplants

Of course in the HD world you have no choice but torque as those ancient engine designs will self destruct if you spin them too fast lol

Evoluzione has/had? big bore kits and intake kits and 6th gear and...

Yeah-- basically the Aprilla kits--- a few out here have done the pistons and cams ... not heard of anyone converting to 6 speed yet----- you'll lose reverse and not sure what the Spyder computers will think......

that video was uploaded in 2007, you can get close to that on a off the showroom floor rocket with a drag tire and suspension made for drags and NOT burn a quart of oil a pass. I would say that have a worse opinion of a harvey danielson "style" as the video put it motor. Top full bikes peaked in the 70's and early 80's because they are so dangerous.

Don't get me wrong I would over to have one but its going 1/4 mile straight... we do this same thing at spyderfest and people have NEVER raced their spyder's ever. Its all in the launch.

The guy from mound, MN did very well and beat doc with the aprillia cam and pistons.

Don't forget to shoot me a pm when you run across the first 200mph Spyder......:D :ohyea:

how about any showroom harvey danielson that will beat a spyder thru the twisties? You could try to cheat and say a v-rod could but I would believe it when someone beat me and if they did I would gladly say that Porsche should help harvey out with all their motorcycle engines. I am glad that sale in India saved the company but I am disappointed that they are cutting shifts at the american plants.
I have I guy that I work with that bought a sporty and told that at least his bike was made in american, I had to break it to him that the parts on his bike are not only designed in other countries now but also the covers that say "AMERICAN Freedom" say made in China on the back.

Seeing you do ride and use yours, have you heard of people when they put the big bore 96 ci kit in a 1988 softtail I have heard mixed things about shaving the heads when you set them up.

The only reason Hd is still alive is that the average middle aged bubba is scared sh**less of the performance of a modern sports bike and would rather pretend to be a dirtbag than die trying to emulate a GP pilot lol

Turbo Charge

The guys at Spyderfest selling the Turbos, said that for about $5,500 you can add a turbo and get about 45 more HP. :ohyea: They claimed it didn't have a turbo lag?

It all kind of depends on how much money you want to spend and how many speeding tickets you want to get. :roflblack:

I have one and they are right.
