• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bet you have never seen this done on a Spyder...

So I had a thought on wifes 2008 GS - dangerous I know! Still getting random stuck in gear happening, no errors at all. Makes me think communications (noise). Coils are grounded. Maybe misfires are sending pulses. So I start stripping down. Pulled out the air filter and OMG found this crap! :yikes::yikes:!! Someone had packed the front half of the chamber with fiberglass insulation! I'm like What In The Literal Hell... Filter was about plugged, no idea how it ran at all. I assume it was somehow to soak up oil?? That typical problem I read about here that people put in a check valve mod for. Cleaned it all out.

Anyways, got Baja Rons plugs & wires kit & put in. I had bought a used JuiceBox for kicks, since I put on an HMF muffler. Installed that as well. Runs great. Still has some pops decelerating. Something from before wasn't quite right, as now when I open it up full bore at a stop it takes off like a rocket and about 4K RPM the rear wheel just breaks free and smokes and I go to plaid drive! (see how many get that reference ). Before it would break and spin, but nothing like this now.

I got into it pretty hard both up and down for about an hour, no stuck in gear problems - so far. Taking it out for a 3-4 hour ride tomorrow for a good test. Here's hoping it was the old plugs/wires putting out noise.

And yes - the oil bypass trick is next on the list. Was not pooled in airbox, but a lot on the dual tubes on the outside of the box. Air filter soaked up a bunch.

Exhaust popping on deceleration is quite often caused by the right side Y pipe gasket. The pair of them need to be replaced.

Try as I might I can't think of any reason why someone would put fibreglass insulation there but I can see what a mess of the air filter its made. If it was at the front of the airbox was it blocking the air intakes?

Sounds like a rat had made his home there. Bought my wife a Spyder from someone and got it home and while going over the bike air box full of insulation like yours along with some dogfood. Cleaned out and ran great.

Ah, now that makes sense. Just as well it didn't join you for the ride home :-)
