• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Best Way to ship an RT Seat ??

I bought an RT seat off eBay and the seller is hesitant to ship it. He says he was quoted $177, which is ridiculous. I know the seat altering folks ship them all the time... just curious... what's the best way to pack them and what is the weight of the seat?

It needs to go from Tampa area to Harrisburg, PA. I'm almost thinking that wrapping it in four or five layers of heavy garbage bags secured by duct tape would work, but all suggestions are welcome!

By the way, I bought the seat, in almost perfect condition (about 1" of one seam is getting a little stretched and/or loose) for just under $25.00, so I can spend a bit on shipping!!!

Have the seat shipped UPS package store. They will wrap it etc. You can get the approx wt. and check with your local store for exact rates. Ground should take about 1 to 3 days in your area--so you don't need 2nd or Next day air. You also get tracking infomation with UPS or Fed Ex.

$177 sounds awful high.

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: $177.00 for shipping ????? That guy is smoking crack. :yikes: At most.......$30-35 at the UPS store. UPS can make a box to fit it, IMO it will get damaged with the shopping bag idea so use a box.

^^^What he said, ^^^

If you shop really careful, you could probably find airline tickets enough to get you there and back with it for not much more than $177...

I have a factory RT seat. I replaced it with a corbin. Can't imagine it only being worth 25 dollars. I think I'll just leave it in the corbin box for now and wait. I have other factory parts that I removed if anybody needs something like RT shocks, Windshield support or Handle bars.

I just shipped my RT seat from NJ to AZ at the UPS store. They made the box, packed it and shipped it for 125.00. That included insurance.

With the backrest the listed weight was 25lbs. Ins was around 23.00

i found the receipt breakdown: making the box & packing $28.10
Ground commercial $74.36
Fuel surcharge $ 5.95
Service options $13.25

I just checked ebay and the most I saw for shipping was $50.00 for a complete seat. :dontknow: Good luck

I shipped my stock RT seat last year from Oregon to Texas, and the best price was $123 - that compared, truck, USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. I had business accounts with several of these. The extra $50 they want is profit.

Are you aware if the RT ans RS base pans are interchangeable?? If they are I would be interested in your seat come spring time.:)

Touring seats for RS

Are the accessory touring seats which BRP sell for the RS the same as the standard seat that comes on the RT??? Is there a difference in configuration of the base pans between the RS and the RT?? What if any are the differences in how they mount?? Any help in answering these questions from Scotty or Lamont would be greatly appreciated. Really liked the feel of the RT seat when I got a chance to sit on it @ the Novi, Mi show. Thanks in advance for putting these questions from inquiring minds to rest!!:clap:

I bought a stock RT seat with a back rest from a fellow member here. Looks like he may have done his own packing and box making, which held up fine. If I remember the shipping cost was around $35.00. Think it was USPS.
