• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Belt tension and the Krikit

Let's see..!!

my RS with the smoothryder tensioner runs at 130 after dealer adjusted. So I keep it there. The best way to do it is have the dealer adjust it with their expensive tools then measure it with the krikit and that will be your setting..not mine..just do it the same way and the same place and life will be good....

Yeah, having a dealer is great, but I don't. The nearest dealer is a 2 hour ride/drive and they have a poor local reputation, so I have to do much of the work myself. Which honestly, is fine since I've been wrenching on motorcycles for a lot of years.

Just wondering, wouldn't the best way to check belt tension be with the normal load on the spyder, just like with headlight aiming? Either that, or with a straight line drawn through both pulleys and the swing arm pivot, for max tension?

That will give you a false reading, compared to the spec. The factory procedure is actually to jack up the Spyder until the wheel is clear. That gives the lowest belt tension. Everything else, including on the ground, is different, so the most repeatable thing for most owners is to do it on the ground with no load. Once they get a Krikit reading at that point with a correctly tensioned belt, they know what to shoot for.
