Belt problem

While I was checking air in rear tire, I noticed a hard bubble on top of belt. I rolled the bike forward, thinking maybe a rock was between sprocket and belt, found nothing. Im hoping not to have to replace belt. Any ideas? :dontknow:

Ride it!

I would not worry about it. It was probably caused by a stone and the stone has fallen out. If it was a tear on the edge, then you should replace the belt. These belts are incredibly strong and that bubble will probably never cause any problems. Ride it and enjoy.

.

I too have a RT-S '15. We had only had it 18 months and put 12K miles on it when I found the exact same thing, almost the same spot. I thought it might be a stone and tried to use needle nose pliers to push from the outside to see if I could get it to back out. What fell out of the inside looked to be a small piece of metal but fell in the grass and I couldn't find it again. It did NOT look like a stone. That was 10 months and 13K miles ago and have had no problems with the belt since. The hole has not changed at all. We found another bike for my Wife last August (same Year and model) that only had 1500 miles on it. At around 2K miles We found the same little hole as mine had. That was 4300 miles and ago and still no change on hers. So in MHO keep an eye on it and you should have many miles of riding left in that belt.

Generally speaking, minor damage/imperfection in the center of the belt is not cause for great concern. However, if it is located on the edge of the belt, that can be cause for concern. New belt and install will run around $350. Friend of mine had a small rock puncture the center of his belt and it left a hole in it. He's still running the belt with no issues at all. I picked up some fresh asphalt that punctured the side of my belt, and the belt began tracking to the outside of edge of the sprocket. Service tech said, "not good," so I replaced my belt.

Agreed....

If the puncture is not through the belt you should be fine. What is interesting is that there are several of you with the same thing with no sign of inside damage. Could be a manufacturers issue. I that metal piece was not lost in the grass maybe could have shed some light on whats going on....:dontknow:

As others have stated you should be good , a good pic with the diameter shown & the mileage would be nice back up. Main thing is there is no freying :lecturef_smilie:any belt tends to peel once that starts.

.

When I first found the blister/hole in the belt I had the dealer file a claim with BRP to tried to have it replaced under a warranty. But of coarse not a chance. After the wife's and now this one that all look alike I wonder how many others have had this same blister/hole issue?

Mine too

MY '14 RT-S had the same thing. My bubble was right in the center of the belt.
Of course the dealer said to replace but I didn't. I finally did replace the belt, 92,000
miles later. Just check it from time to time.
