Belt Guard Rubbing - any thoughts?

My husband installed Spyderpops missing belt guard on my 2013 RT-S recently and it rubs on the belt when I have a co-rider. Has anyone else experience this problem and if so what did you do to correct it? :dg2:

Did you contact Spyderpops on the issue? He might give you better guidance since he created it...;)

I had the problem on my 2010 and I just removed the guard. End of problem. I don't know if you can re-stick them you may need to put on new double stick tape.

Little off..!!

although somewhat tricky with the one shot to get it right, sometimes you can be a little off. Looks like when the swing arm comes up it rubs with the belt. Re applying would require a new tape strip. Best check with spyderpopos..good luck..!!

I had this issue, but with the tire. The belt guard is tougher than you think and can be bent away from the belt or tire. It may be tougher with the back tire on, but take hold of the guard as high as you can and bend it away from the belt. When I say as high as you can, I mean up at the crease, at the attachment point. I had to end mine almost horizontal, but now it's perfectly centered.

I was told -----

I was told that when I installed my Spyderpops missing rock guard that it is very close tolerances and that for the first few miles or so----I might smell some plastic burning or hear it rub the belt a little but no damage will occur and it will cut a groove into the rock guard and all will be good. NOT to worry is what I was told. ;)

ditto here. Not sure if I can get it bent away from the tire tho.

You have to take the belt cover off, pull the bottom of the belt guard through the belt and then you can bend it up. It's definitely easier to pull it away from the tire than the belt. I'm pretty sure you'll have to take the tire off to be able to bend it away from the belt.

That was the solution Harvey (SpyderPops) gave me when I called him on the issue.

Mine rubbed on the belt, so I just notched it out with a pair of sidecutters. Took just enough off to clear the belt and allow full suspension travel....Just a very small amount had to be cut.
