• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

"Been there maps"

This is a general Spyder question:

What is the general consensus concerning what the maps in signatures actually mean? For example, my map shows all 49 states that I rode a (two wheel) motorcycle to/in while another ryder told me his map ON THIS Forum shows states he rode his Spyder to/in. My map of the states would only have TWO if I used that criteria. Should I change my map? Or maybe I should ride my F3 to more states? Yes, that's what I'll do! But until then, I'll leave it as it is.

It's YOUR sig line, and it's YOUR map - within reason & the bounds of the Forum Rules, you can use it to show whatever you like! :ohyea:

But personally, I DO like the bolded bit in the quote!

Maybe you should add a little :spyder: to each state you've ridden your Spyder and keep the rest of it the way it is. ;)

As Peter A said, it is your map. Do what you want with it. One can be strict, strict, or a bit more loose. I lived in the lower 48 for the first 35 years of my motorcycling. Spyders were not invented until 2008....that was eight years after I moved to Alaska.

My map, when I had it, covered all the states where I had driven a motorcycle and then in 08 and later I added the Spyder miles. Moved back to lower 48 in 2019 and now have the opportunity to finish out the map. The SE was where I had not fully covered the US. I do have Spyder riding in both Alaska, and Hawaii though.

The "purists" were very vocal in years past. I pulled my map and have not posted it since. With mods, there is likely to be less quibbling about what goes on the maps.

So...put up a map if you want. Make it yours, and enjoy. There are no specific rules.

Once Covid is behind us...we are going to re-travel most of the lower 48 in the US...this time on Spyders.

Oh, I agree that it is MY map.....but after someone asked me if I'd ridden all those 49 on a Spyder, I decided to see what others thought. I like the idea of adding a spider to each Spyder state but have no idea how that would be done! And the 'far East' states were the toughest to get to. In 2018, I left TX and rode up the Blue Ridge and Skyline to WV and then on to NJ where I spent a few days with a friend. We left NJ early one morning, crossed the Washington Bridge (payed about $15 for a horrible experience crossing it), then into CT. We crossed the RI border, stopped at the first gas station and confirmed we were in RI, then back to CT and up to MA. Back to NY and NJ, final 47th, 48th and 49th! Now to fly to HI and rent a scooter......

I use 3 colors on my map. 1st color for when I rode my BSA, 2nd color for states that I rode both my BSA and Spyder, and the 3 color for states that I only rode my Spyder. Also have a little note to the side explaining the color codes.

Congrats, Charlotte's Web! By Canada, do you mean all the Provinces?
Oh, and why not Alaska? Hyder is easy to get to if you don't have time to cross Canada to get to the 'mainland'.

I like that Idea! But you must have plucked your map from 'off site' as the one here won't let me change the colors.

Our map covers all of our travels except while on foot in state and national parks.

I copied the map from Spyderlovers.com into Adobe Photoshop and painted the colors that I wanted in the map then added to new map to my signature. Almost any photo program would enable you to do the same. I do not recall where I got the map of Europe, my brain cells deteriorate with time.

Good Luck

Mine shows all the countries I've ridden motorbikes (Spyder included)

The Finland one is a bit tenuous as most of the time I was working there I rode a ski-doo, but I did get a chance to ride a motorbike with spikes in its wheels on a frozen lake.

If I included BRP Ski-doos I could add Antarctica as well:-)
