I can guess:

Did not read the operators guide. (except to set the clock and see the oil change intervals)

Does not read saftey card.

Did not test himself on the guide because he didn't read it and it's on the bench in the garage anyway.

Did not train in a controled low risk area.

Does not refer back to operators guide to familiarize himself because he was sure it was on the bench in his garage but now he can't find it.

Pre-ride inspection consists of making sure the tires are not flat.
