Bearing Buddies???

Has anyone tried Bearing Buddies on the 622 trailer ?????? They look n sound like they'd work..

Have run them on my boat trailers for years with great success. Don't see any reason why they wouldn't work just as well on the 622 assuming they fit. However, they do sling some grease from time to time and make a mess.

They make a rubber cover now that's supposed to eliminate the mess..

That cover sorta works...not...haha

Oh! And those covers seem to come up missing. You notice it as your cleaning up the mess..

The best greased hub setup I have found is the Sure Lube system. Much less mess than bearing buddies and overall a better system for grease distribution.

I am against the whole concept of bearing buddies. They put spring loaded grease pressure against the back seal of the hub. It doesn't promote any circulation of grease just pressure against failure of the rear seal. google dexter EZ lube axles. That is the proper way to take care of bearings IMHO. It pumps grease through the bearings packing them with grease.

That's a nice setup too. Very similar to the sure lube setup.

I agree about the BB not being so great. However, The idea for the bearing buddies is to keep grease pressure on the rear seal since that is the primary water penetration point on a boat trailer. So I guess it sorta works...???
Most people over grease them too.

I think with the Bearing Buddie type hubs you will be tempted to over grease them causing seal failure.
Just maintain the bearings per the factory instructions.
