• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery Tender Connector as Standard Equipment?

Some dealers are known to put on the battery tender connections. When I picked my 2012 the dealer had put the lead on and even threw in the battery tender. I've bought from a couple of dealers that I've done that, not all do but it's a nice value added service that others could learn from.

Yea, I'm still figuring the reasoning out. My Spyder had to be ordered, so it's not like it was sitting on the dealership floor. They received it in the crate Friday afternoon and started building it Saturday and I picked it up Monday night moments after they finished the laser alignment, so I'd be surprised if they went out of their way to plug a brand new battery to a Battery Tender just to get through 4 days. I'd also figure if it was a dealer complimentary option, they would have gone out of their way to advertise it to me. I also think it's interesting if it's a new factory "unannounced feature", because, as far as I know, this is a proprietary quick disconnect for the Battery Tender company, so Can-Am would in essence be endorsing another company without a grand announcement. It definitely looks like an OEM Battery Tender connector, looks just like the ones I have, with the fuse on the positive wire and even the little markings seem spot on, so it doesn't seem like a generic Harbor Freight'ish version either. I'm interested to hear what other '14'ers find.

(...and yes, I AM making a big deal about a $4.75 item that was included with my $15,000 purchase! It's a pleasant surprise in our current world of "batteries not included".)

My dealer installed the battery tender connector the day I bought it. I already had the charger.

Are you referring to the connector shown in the OP's picture, one insulated terminal and one bare? If so, that is an ordinary everyday 2 pole SAE connector available anywhere trailer wiring is sold.

It is most definitely a tender lead. Seeing as the trunk is not on when it comes in the crate and the battery (which is located directly behing the trunk) is not hooked up and needs an initial charge, this is not a time consuming accessory to hook up. Many dealerships install these on every major unit they sell. Most low amp chargers now have this style plug on them so it is for the most part "universal".
