• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone used anything like Armor-all on the matte black plastic parts of the Spyder (i.e. lower shroud, passenger handles, etc...)? Do you think that would cause it to catch and hold dust, dirt and crude in general? :dontknow:

One product in wide use by RV'ers (lots of plastic and fiber glass on RV's) is "Dri Wash N Guard". A little goes a long way.... it is sprayed on/wipe off. Can use it on metal (like auto's) gell coat (like RV's) etc. You can do a search on Ebay and find it..

one idea..

Try 303 it a marine product that I use on mine stays on even in rain.Boat builders endorce it.:doorag:

 Thanks ya'll. I think I'm going to get enough ideas that I can try them all and find one I like.

Any quick detailer is fine...it's plastic we're dealing with here...unless you coat the bike in a heavy white wax, you should be fine.

I only wipe mine off after I ride when it's wet out...I use a nanowax or other quick detailer on everything...no concerns...

Have used ArmorAll on the black plastic on my LTs for years. Good product. Switched to carnuba on the 07, using same on the Spyder - no residual oils to catch dust.

I wash with S100, leave the flat black plastic alone, and wipe the color panels with Honda Spray or Mother's Quick Detailer

+1 That is exactly what I use...S100 as a cleaning agent, and Mother's Quick Detailer for finish...Looks like new!

I use Meguiar's products on all my vehicles, including my Spyder. Their Quik Detailer is perfect for the Spyder for that quick 'pop' after washing, and in between washing and waxing. I use their 'Gold Class' liquid wax for a nice wax job. And, the 'Natural Shine - Vinyl and Rubber Protectant' is perfect for those areas!

Now, some of these Meguiar's Products may not be available at your local retailers. If they aren't, you can order them online from Meguiar's. The pricing is fair, and they don't beat you up too badly on the quick shipping.

Meguiar's is THAT GOOD.

Oh yeah! And, for washing, I use Meguiar's 'Deep Crystal' Car Wash. It takes just a very little bit in your wash bucket. A gallon jug will last a very long time...

And, of course; a soft wash mit for washing. And, micro fiber towels for drying, and Quik Detailer application, and wax removal. A note on the towels you detail your vehicles with: never use a dryer sheet when drying these items. Use of dryer sheets can and will cause swirls, and small scratching.

We use Plexus on our helicopter windows and it is a very good product.
It will even fill in micro scratches and it sheds water off the canopy very well in flight.
I also agree with Mothers and Maguires products being very good as well.

If you just can't live with the unpainted black plastic when it is not at its blackest (?) try Mother's "Back to Black". It is especially good when one accidentally gets wax on the black plastic and it really becomes unsightly, and no amount of scrubbing can remove it.

Plexus is all I use on the Spyder.
Make sure its at least 50 degrees so the contents can mix in the can when u shake it. No scratching, no swirl marks and i ts perfect on the paint as well as the Flat Black shrouds.
Used it on the Aircraft for over ten years no scratching the windshield..and if u would see anything of scratches try flying into the sun for a while u would see scratches. even the most superficial kind in a second........ Try Chief Aircraft on the web they will sell it to u by the case ..
