Speaking personally: He and I disagreed on just about everything. But I rarely reported any of his posts. Only the most blatant political statements were "sent upstairs".
The problem: he made an awful lot of them! :shocked:

I personally think that the post that broke the camels back, went on too long anyway. If things get too political, the post should just be deleted. Sooner or later people would get the idea. I see a load of post that I don't agree with, and the comments kind of piss me off. But I just ignore them and move on. We all have to live together, so why not get along during this time and have fun.
I am active on the M109 forums, and some of those guys are way left, and some are way right. But when we get together every year, for the past 9, all we can think about is having fun and being brothers. We see no politic, no color, no religion, etc. Just fellow riders that would do anything for each other.

Lessons to be learned IMO. I mentioned in post #8 of the thread in question, the thread was heading south. Two days later, it was stronger than ever.

Then "poof" and it was gone as well as the banishment of one.

Sometimes, the site takes a nasty turn or two.

Have to agree with Saluda--we should not attack someone who can no longer defend themselves. The deed is done, the reasoning obvious, and hopefully, a lesson learned.

Some of us have conversed behind the scenes with certain posters, but to no avail. It is difficult to talk with opinionated people--sometimes.

Well I don't remember banning anyone so I checked. He's still listed as a registered user so I'm not sure where you got your info.
I have pulled post that were reported to me and there are several here that likes to push buttons and he is one of them. But I can tell you for a fact he has not been banned.

Yes---- Me too. As one of the VERY few members who has ridden with Pete ---- I can tell you he is a nice guy--- much more even tempered than some on this board. ( myself included). Maybe ( just maybe ) when the political thread was pulled he had a computer problem. Or just got tired of being ragged on.

Cousin John hasn't come back either ( for whatever reason). Could have gotten tired of the pettiness of the internet.
