Ron, I am not a gear head , barely know which end of the wrench to use. Two questions, does installation effect the warranty. If I have my dealer install it how long should it take to install it? Oh also What else should, I install when the bar gets put in?
You are not the only one that feels 'Wrench Challenged'.
The bar will not affect warranty. There are some dealerships putting my bar on demo Spyders saying they sell better that way.
I find that most dealerships will charge 1.5 hours labor. A few less than that and some are ridiculous. Some customers have told me that their dealer quoted 8 hours for the install. I think that's just another way of saying they don't want to do the job.
Those that do this install often can do it in 30 minutes or less.
Looks like you have a 2013 Spyder. You should definitely have the Heim Joint Links checked to see if they are from the bad batch. There are posts here on Spyderlovers with more information on these.
The bar will make a big difference. But if you want more improvement you'll need to look into shocks. I am not a fan of the 'One Size Fits All' approach that BRP has taken with the new Spyder line. Different owners weight different amounts, some tall, some short, some 2-up, some 1-up, some loaded to the hilt, some running light, some ride hard, some don't, some do mostly flat-line riding, others tear up the twisties. IMHO you need some adjustability in your suspension.
While it is true that some, if not many, will never adjust their suspension to handle these different scenarios, it remains that for those who want their suspension to be right, you need the ability to make adjustments to fit the situation. A single shock setting simply cannot deal with all the possibilities.
