• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ok here we go again..:gaah:.i have a 2012 Rt :spyder2: im wondering since i have a new bike only 3200 miles today ..How much better my ride could get..my thought is i dont mind spending the money as long as it changes for the good and also for the good for my passenger so the ride would be more comfortable so my question is i have a new bike how much change is baja rons sway bar going to make vs the one i have on there now...what is the difference in the two..i lov my 2012 spyder and love to drive anywhere but if i can make it more comfortable than what it is ...that would be awesome..thanks ...chuck...

I had 400 miles on my RT when I put on Ron's sway bar. Best thing I have done ( so far ). Go ahead and and do it, you won't be sorry, it feels like a whole new ride. Much more stable.

As I have said..!!

If you are happy with your ryde you don't need to change your bar. you can adjust your shocks if needed. But I will tell you if you do change to Ron's sway bar the change will be impressive. Not jmo...

Swaybar

The swaybar make's a lot of difference. Now your rt's front end dips in a sharp turn. After swaybar install it doesn't happen. Changed mine a while back now I ride like i'am on rails.

Ok thanks for everyones feed back.so does the baja sway bar keep me from leaning side to side when i go around curves..like i do now on the factory sway bar ..

I have a 2013 RT-S without the adjustable shocks and the sway bar made a big difference. I'm going to replace the front shocks with Elka's. Since you have a 2012 you don't have to change the shocks just the bar. Go for it! you won't regret it. jmo!

Excessive lean in curves, diving into turns, getting pushed around in cross winds or when passing large trucks on the freeway. These are the biggest areas of improvement when you install the sway bar.

I have had a number of customers tell me that they didn't see any need for the sway bar, that they were very happy with the way their Spyder handled. But because their buddies were all telling them that they needed the bar they were going to get one against their better judgement. Then they call me a week or so later telling me they were only happy before because they didn't know what they were missing. That they could not believe that just changing a steel bar would make so much difference.

This is a mod that you really have to ride to understand. A lot of customers come to me wanting to purchase a bar after riding a buddies Spyder with my bar installed.

Is the bar for everyone? I don't know, not everyone has one. On the other hand, I've never gotten one back either.... :)

Install

Ron, I am not a gear head , barely know which end of the wrench to use. Two questions, does installation effect the warranty. If I have my dealer install it how long should it take to install it? Oh also What else should, I install when the bar gets put in?

You are not the only one that feels 'Wrench Challenged'.

The bar will not affect warranty. There are some dealerships putting my bar on demo Spyders saying they sell better that way.

I find that most dealerships will charge 1.5 hours labor. A few less than that and some are ridiculous. Some customers have told me that their dealer quoted 8 hours for the install. I think that's just another way of saying they don't want to do the job.

Those that do this install often can do it in 30 minutes or less.

Looks like you have a 2013 Spyder. You should definitely have the Heim Joint Links checked to see if they are from the bad batch. There are posts here on Spyderlovers with more information on these.

The bar will make a big difference. But if you want more improvement you'll need to look into shocks. I am not a fan of the 'One Size Fits All' approach that BRP has taken with the new Spyder line. Different owners weight different amounts, some tall, some short, some 2-up, some 1-up, some loaded to the hilt, some running light, some ride hard, some don't, some do mostly flat-line riding, others tear up the twisties. IMHO you need some adjustability in your suspension.

While it is true that some, if not many, will never adjust their suspension to handle these different scenarios, it remains that for those who want their suspension to be right, you need the ability to make adjustments to fit the situation. A single shock setting simply cannot deal with all the possibilities.

sway bar

I have a 2012 rt limited and had Ron's sway bar, pitbulls shock relocators, and elkas put on at 2013 SPYDERFEST. not sure which one made the most difference since I had all of them installed at the same time but I can tell you it is like a whole new ride. very glade I did all of them. it also lifted the :spyder2: by an inch or two. Now I can load it on my trailer w/o using any boards under the tailgate. I did have my headlights readjusted Friday at my 3000 mile checkup. You will tell a big difference. good luck with your decision vince morris
