• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bad Key

My nightmare about having only 1 key was fixed by me, I ordered to blanks from the US, then I had to worry about whoever would cut the key (as BRP doesn't do that) then have BRP program them. Which all went just fine, luckily. BUT now I had my first DESS error and I am completely worried and worked up about what this will mean for me. It is a nightmare, and I don't need anymore bad dreams.....lately has been the pits.

As a warning to you all, you can not get a replacement key programmed to match your bike, if you don't have a working key with you.

If you lose your key while you're out on the road, make sure you have an extra hidden somewhere on the vehicle that you can get to without needing a key, or you will have to buy a new ignition switch and a new DISS module to be able to start the bike and ride, and once again have two keys.

Don't ask how I know this, just know that the cost is over $300. Oh, I'll tell you anyway...

I only had one key, and when it got damaged and lost it's ability to communicate with the DISS, there is no way to program a new key. As unlikely as it seems, you can not get a replacement key if you don't have a working key.

I found this warning in the owner's manual....
"NOTE: Your should receive two keys with your vehicle. Each key contains a computer chip specifically pre-programmed to start your vehicle. Store the spare key in a safe place because you MUST have your spare key to have another one made....."

Don't ever leave home without both keys. One in the ignition and one taped, or tie-strapped to the bike somewhere. Not in the trunk or under the seat. You need a key to get there!

If I were buying a new Spyder now, knowing this, I would have an extra key made so that there were three keys, then I could always have a backup at home in case of a bad situation. Or, if you only have one key, go get another made BEFORE you need it!
The ignition switch and the DESS Module are under warranty I had my DESS MODULE (replaced twice under warranty) and my Ignition switch replaced ( once) and it was under warranty, they reprogramed the key the first time.

I have a "Thread going " KEY CODE AGAIN ON A 2014RTS-SE6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ( some say is long like a novel-book) Deanna
