Backrests

Does anyone know of a backrest that would be similar to an Electraglide? What I'm thinking is the Corbin saddlebags and a rear seat with a wrap around armrest and trunk on back. My lady always feels like she is going to fall off. I would even try to modify something that was not originally designed for the spyder. Any suggestions?

No matter how much backrest you put on, the passenger needs to hang on to the grab rails. The Spyder does not ride like a 2 wheeler. How about a seat belt in the rear? :dontknow: It would probably work, but look really wrong. :yikes:

I agree that even with the backrest, passengers must brace themselves with the grab handles and footpegs, but without the backrest, the passenger should also apply velcro to their pants and the seat. There is no sleep mode for passengers on the Spyder like there may be on the back of a Gold Wing or Electra Glide. While the backrest is outrageously expensive, it is an absolute must for passenger comfort.

You know, I kind of like that. I don't particularly care for the spider on the back but I like the simplicity and ease of it.

I agree. Pretty stiff price, though, and I would worry about water leakage into the tailpiece.

I don't think that a little water in there would hurt anything. Its not really sealed or moisture proof under there to begin with. IMO, it wouldn't be any different than riding without some of the other plastic panels in place.

It is $250 cheaper than the BRP sportrack/backrest. If you look at comparative photos, I think the BRP comes up a little higher on the back and does have a contour. The MMG looks like its about belt high and straight. BRP does have a very modest front to back adjustment that might make a difference based on passenger size.
