Can't see if'n :spyder2: fan is running :yikes: ?? , at night or in cold weather :gaah: , unless you remove your glove, & feel for hot air :yes: Try this simple trick :2thumbs: install reflective tape, or paint on three fan blades, :lecturef_smilie:, makes fan easy too see, sorta like a rotor on a helicopter blade hyea: :firstplace:

Here is a trick that works every time!

Wire your Horn to the Fan circuit. Then you'll ALWAYS know whenever your fan comes on.

:shocked: well shuck's, after 50+ yrs :clap: a tinker'n with scooter's, & helichoppers, I didn't :roflblack: know plastic fan blades were hi-tech balanced :spyder: I also got a Harley V-Rod, with 80K :sour: miles, & it has 4 plastic fans, with a dime size finger-nail :2thumbs: polish on them, :chat: guess it's too late :gaah: for nail polish remover hyea:

I figure that that's why BRP put temp bars on display. If it reaches six bars and goes to seven instead of back down to five or four, fan may not be working. I don't try to see if my car radiator fan is working, but rely on guages.

Here is an idea .... someone can make a relay and make the temp guage blink when the fan is running.:roflblack:

Just ride the damn thing and go faster if it is getting hot.

Thats what I always say (the faster I go the cooler my engine is) but my better half complains because he's left behind.

For those interested the Spyder Fan is a SPAL 9" slim fan moving 590 cfm at 6.6amps. I am in the process of trying to determine the best addon fan that I can mount behind the stock fan and control manually and needed to remove the stock fan for measurements. You can see the specs at the link below:

I often ride in 90+ heat in south Louisiana and have never had my gauge go past 5 bars. That was in very slow traffic at rush hour.

Why do you feel the need to put an after market fan on ?

Like many others I do not believe that BRP got it right when designing the fan to come on at the right time/temp. Too many have been left in limp mode because of an overheat condition. Adding an additional fan or, which I am also considering, adding an additional manual control switch for the stock fan provides me a little bit of piece of mind. There is nothing worse then riding in stop and go traffic in the summer watching the temp gauge go from 3 bars, then to 4 bars then to 5 bars just waiting for 6 bars and the inevitiable LIMP mode.

:roflblack:that is what I meant Baja no problems hear rode last year 105 to 107 days in heat wave last June Big Apple traffic daily Jams no overheat problems at all :ani29:so how hot does it get on top of Pikes Peak and Ajax Canada :joke:
