• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Awesome braking power

I live in beautiful Wyomng. My wife and I decided to take the Spyder up in the hills a ways the other day. Coming back we encountered a heard of deer crossing the highway. At twilight it is very difficult to see along with coming around a bend at 65. First I saw the deer on the left side of the road and immediately looked to the right. There four doe was heading into the road in a line. No where to go to avoid them I hit the skids as hard as I could. In about 50 feet the Spyder slowed down and verde to the left. Totally in control. One of the deer I thought we was going to hit hard but just nicked my right elbow and my wife's forearm as we went past. We came to a dead stop about 10 feet past the deer. It was as shocked as we were. We caught out breath and road on home. If I had been on a bike, I believe is be dead. No way would a bike stop in that space. If I was in a car, I would have taken all four deer out. I've never seen braking power like my Spyder has.

Yikes...!!

Glad you handled that so well. Your right about the outcome in other vehicles. The braking system with the stability control is a great feature... be safe out there....:ohyea:

This is a reason I'm moving to the spyder. You can't really tell a non spyder rider how well they brake. It's really inconceivable how well they handle in these situations. Glad you and your SO are ok. Chris

:agree:
I had a few panic stops on my Spyder and I can tell that you better hang on
Your body does not stop as fast as your Spyder

Deer!!!

Our area has plenty of deer. No deer tags in this area and no preditors( well ---cars ). I came very close at speed years ago shortly after we moved up here. I'm very carefull dusk and dawn.

Know a few acquantiances who have hit deer hard.

I'm sure it's been said before, but it's worth being reminded. Deer and other wildlife are most active at dusk as they move out to begin feeding. Also, deer are not loners. If you see one by the road you can be sure there will be at least one more. So when you see a deer ahead, look for the others that are certain to be there.

Love Them Too!

I've never seen braking power like my Spyder has.

Agreed! The Spyder's brakes are absolutely wonderful. I was too embarrassed to say that I've found them to be incredible in an emergency. Didn't want to admit to having an emergency, actually.

I agree that the brakes are fantastic. I had to stop fast on Monday when a car pulled out in front of me. If I had been only two wheeler I don't believe I would have stopped in time!! Quite a rush for sure!

And try to remember to emphasize that two-wheelers can only brake in a straight line, while the Spyder safely handles maximum braking during sharp turns, even S-curves, if necessary. It's a great safety advantage.
Been there, done that! (Hard stop with S-curve. Safely & calmly executed. Harley-owner passenger-lady with me thought we were doomed, and was yelling, "Son-of-a-B.....". This was her very first Spyder ryde, but I wasn't a bit worried, what with my extended Spydering experience.)
