• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Are we ALL old folks riding Spyders?

I just turned 30... 28 when I purchased the 3 wheeled "urban assult vehicle".

I also have a 2007 CRF 250 supermoto for road america, and a crf50 for the back yard track.

For me it's fast enough and speed had nothing to do with my purchase. But.................... the sixth gear would have been nice, because ya.. i like to go supersonic when the conditions are right.

First question out of every younger rider's mouth is "how fast is it?"...

Which is really the mentality of stupid young kids anyway. BRP was not able or willing to put more power in the Spyder. If they had, they would reach the younger demographic that still thinks top end is everything. That said, if they put in more power and charge more, then it would be out of that age group's price range. The irony.

At 40, I like hanging out with the more mature crowd anyway.

Well, I'm 34. I've noticed this myself. I think the price tag is the problem, many people my age can't afford it given they have houses to pay for and children to raise. I know lots of people my age or younger that want one, they just can't do it.

Is it just me ? I mean all the photo's I've seen of people riding spyders, particularly the RT's have all been people like....ME.

Is there another forum for youngsters to post on ?

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Does that pertain to ST1100's as well??:D

I love the Spyder demographics - I finally feel like I belong. As a sports bike rider also I sometimes find myself riding in a group of squids who literally have grandparents my age. Pretty cool, though, that they'll call to see if we want to join them for a ride and then ask if they can ryde the Spyder that day. They surely don't seem to be embarrassed to be seen on one and the girlfriends love it since it's WAY more comfortable than the passenger seat of a crotch rocket - and they have a trunk to put stuff in!

Yeah Jane, but you're only 20 or something like that right? :2thumbs:

Most young riders wouldn't be caught dead on a three wheeler, not Macho enough, also the price doesn't help ether. For thousands less you can get a two wheeler that will run circles around the Spyder. I bough my Spyder at age 63 [I'm 65 now] I got it so i can ride every day though the winter. I got tired of parking my two Wheeler's in the bad weather, So i guess you can say i got it for safety reasons. I do take my Son's Busa out every now and then to keep the juices flowing.

I think you may have nailed this one on the head.... some people make fun of my spyder others love it (more love it for sure). I am 23, and i love my bike. While i do wish it was a bit faster, its perfect for my condition. Also the price tag doesn't help for the younger community, people me age always ask how much was this... when i tell them their jaws about hit the floor and thier pants get heavier lol....

OLD FOLK

old enough to know better and young enough to do it all over again. my 20 year young son and his friends drool over the spyder every time they see it. have taken many for a ride and are more than impressed, unfortunately other extracurricular activities are more important. ( been ther /done that ). all in all I really do not care what other people think . I LOVE IT, actually have never had a negative comment, a little teasing but all is good.:2thumbs:

Purchased my '09 SE5 last year, age 67....doctor claims he can keep me alive until 90. Should be able to put a lot of miles, and smiles, on "Big Yaller" in that time period!:joke:

I was 39 for the past 20 years when I bought my Spyder and now, I'm 39 for the past 21 years.

Age is just a number to me and it's how I feel inside. I know many my age and younger, that want nothing more than a rocking chair. I'm a long ways from one of those and am happy on 3 wheels. Many of my friends and those I meet, don't believe I'm 60.

When my hair was down to the middle of my back and I had a fumanchu a few years ago and old g/f made the comment that I looked like the Cowardly Lion, from the Wizard of Oz. I did look like Burt Laars and my response was, Put 'emm up! Put 'emm up! I'll beat you with both paws tied behind my back! Than broke into song with "I'm King Of the Jungle".:D

I bought mine when I was 28 and I am now 29. I bought because of the wheelchair thing. I have been asked by more older people than younger how fast it will go, I do not count 15 yr old kids in this as they are and I was then retarded.

I of course believe they should have left the engine with 150hp it had in the MIllie R. Kids today Have way more money (as in their parents give them way more that I ever thought possible) so i do not think they would NOT sell more with more power. I mean look at what the did NOT do with the 2010 RS, what a waste to pump so much into a new design but not do a mild upgrade to the existing "sport" version that is lacking in power, the bike should hit redline in 5th gear IMO and even that is too slow for my standards of modern motorcycles.

That being said I have been more annoyed with older people that think they know telling their friends all sorts of re DIC U lous crap walking up to me to tell me about my bike so not only do have to Un F what they told their friends I have to give my usual speach about it.

30 yrs old / young here...

I'm an expat living on the canary islands and just don't feel like making the motorcycle license in spanish :D

Plus the Spyder is kind of safer than a 2 wheel vehicle and I appreciate that.

It's also a real head-turner and attention-getter with only 2 Spyder (that I know of) driving here and 1 or 2 on the other islands... has to be that 20.000 EURO (currently 26,599 USD) pricetag... hated that part, but what can you do if you like something ;)

ryde on!

Steve

:2thumbs: I was 51 when :spyder: came home.
I,m now 53 even though I act 22.
I feel old (116) some days and stupid (16) on other days.
I woke up breathing again so I ryde.:D

Bought my Spyder at 48, but still ryde sport bikes. You are only as old as you feel, or as old as the cute waitress at the bar thinks you are.
