Are there any cheaper brake linkage rods out there?

I just bought a 2018 F3, and the brake peg is in position 3. I think I want to go to position 4, but I may also want to play around with a few different adjustments. It would be awesome if someone made an adjustable brake rod (not to alter brake pedal angle, to lengthen or shorten depending on peg position) , but if that is not made, it seems $32.00 for a metal rod is a bit high, especially when I may want to buy the complete set.

Are there any available out there cheaper? I saw one on EBay for $17.99......but shipping was $17.000. What a scam.

Nothing much to them. They are simple as can be. You can build your own for a few dollars. If you are familiar with threading rods, nothing could be easier. The one you already have is your pattern. Just make them longer or shorter. Any hardware store has the threaded rod connectors.

I might just do that, but, you know the market would support some clever guy that made a really nice adjustable rod, sort of like those segmented gun cleaning rods.

Making your own is not a problem. The problems start when you sell them to the public and people with two left hands start installing them, but you are the one that would get sued if something came loose.

It might cost $32.00, but all the R&D and trial and error has been done for you. You are buying a part that you know will fit and is proven to solve whatever problem you're trying to fix. Sure, "it's just a metal rod", but by the time you buy the components to make one, install it and get it adjusted - how much is your time worth? What if your design was flawed and you end up without brakes in an emergency situation? That $32 could be the best money you ever spent. It looks like you have it covered now, I just posted this for others who may be on the fence about buying vs making their own parts.

I have three brake rods that you can have for the cost of shipping. I need space in the garage.
#2, #3 (has been drilled to change the pedal height or use as stock height), #5.
I have the #4 installed on my F3 with Ultimate Floor Boards.

I took my stock rods and cut out 5 inches out of the center. I then tapped/threaded both end pieces of the rod(it's hollow with a 1/4"ID) to receive a 5/16" threaded rod. Using two lock nuts on the 5/16 threaded rod to keep it from backing out. I can now switch to position 3-5 if I want. The added benefit of an adjustable brake/shifting lever is you can fine tune where the pedals are in relation to your resting foot position on the pegs. For instance, I shortened a normal #4 position by an extra 1/2"ish to lower the brake pedal. Now I don't have take my foot off the peg to reach up to the brake lever.

Haze, Do you still have the #5 brake rod for an F3 U-Fit setup? Will it work with OEM floorboards? I think they are the same for pegs and boards. I would be interested in it for the cost of shipping. I just bought a 2021 F3 and the boards are in position 3. I want #5.
