Are head pipes stainless steel?

One of the arguments against using header wrap is the trapped moisture causing rust and breaking down the steel, aren't the header pipes on a spyder stainless steel?if so the wrap shouldn't cause premature pipe failure right?

They are..!!

The only failures I have seen are usually at the welds. Wrapping the pipe should not be a problem but if in doubt you can ceramic coat it...:thumbup:

I've had mine wrapped for 4 years now and no rust or problems at all. Mine was getting a little raty, so I redid it and had a good look.

Wrapping your pipes in an effort to reduce excess heat is worthless. Do not waste your time or money.

I know the catalytic converter is stainless. I would say it would be stainless.

I did the same thing with the same product about 23 months ago, it worked great to keep the left side much cooler. That product is the newest heat rap and is worth the money. That's IMHO.

Yes the headers are stainless steel. I've found the solution to the overheating that has plagued us with our Spyders. It's called Titanium heat wrap, at 2400 degree and install without wetting it was difficult but not impossible to install. I used 64' 6" total and dropped the y pipe to complete the install. I used stainless steel hose clamps and a couple of stainless steel tie wraps. I'm very pleased with the results, I don't feel I'm sitting on a BBQ any more!!!!
