• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Apple Car Play download initially failed! NOW Finally available....

Dealer has also mentioned that other BRP products like some of the new 4 wheelers use the exact same screen ....and yes they are having similar problems screen goes blank, issue with BT and WIFI not working as well as ACP not working at all either.

I am hoping against hope that as part of this long-overdue upgrade that it not only enables ACP but fixes the WiFi and BT issues as well. Mine won't connect to WiFi reliably at all and BT to my phone is very hit or miss. I can try dozens of times to connect to WiFi and it won't work. Doesn't work to iPhone Hotspot as well even though it shows a connection immediately on my iPhone after I enter the WiFi password.

Strangely, I tried the iPhone hotspot once out on a ride when stopped in a parking lot. There weren't tons of other WiFi networks around and it connected immediately. Not sure if it just can't handle having other networks around or what, and this was a one-off test so it may mean nothing.

I even enabled guest network at home so there are no other devices on it. I tried every option of WPA, WPA2, WEP, no security, 2.4GHz, 5GHz, 2.4/5GHZ mixed. At no time would the bike connect to it. And it shows full bars in the garage too.

Saw this posted on the Apple support forums from May 4th. Of note is that there is no ETA given at all, not even "by the end of May". Sigh.

I got a very similar email from a different CSR today (emphasis mine):

I am sorry to inform you that the Apple CarPlay feature is currently unavailable, and I do not have an estimated time of availability.

I understand your concern about the Apple Car Play for your unit. The feature was initially planned for the new 10.25 display screens but had to be removed due to technical difficulties.

Although it was released again on April 3rd, it had some compatibility issues and was removed again.

Rest assured, BRP is actively collaborating with Apple to address this issue. However, as of now, there is no specific timeline for when the fix will be available. I appreciate your patience as we work on resolving this matter.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Perhaps they have figured out that moving the goalposts every two weeks wasn’t really helping. I don’t want them to tell me it will be ready at the end of May when they know it won’t, but it’s disappointing that the goalposts are now floating around in the clouds somewhere.

For those questioning the importance of ACP being immediately available, of course it is a first world problem. For me personally, ACP was only a small part of why I got my new RT, and she’s fantastic in almost every other way. After 15 years of working in software and app engineering, I know stuff happens at the last minute, release dates get pushed out frequently, and Apple is infamously difficult to work with. But I’ve seen people lose their jobs over smaller misses than this, and while I don’t wish that for anyone, IMO this is not an insignificant delay. Hopefully “actively collaborating” means both Apple and BRP are throwing money and really smart people at this to get it resolved.

Mine won't connect to WiFi reliably
I just went out and checked on my 2024 Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky. When I asked it to connect to my WiFi network it prompted me to enter the password, and when I did it connected successfully.
I then had it check, but there were no updates available to download.

My Spyder also "saw" my iPhone, even though it was inside the house at the time.

I am a retired IT guy, and have high speed cable internet with two wifi hotspots in my home. One is on the south side of my house where most of my computers are located, and one is a wifi extender located in the middle of the house.
Since the extender was closest to the garage on the North side of my house it was what my Spyder connected too. Neither of my wifi connections broadcast their "name", so at some point I had to enter the network name of the wifi extender in order for my Spyder to connect to it.

I just used my phone to check for other wifi networks, and apparently one of my neighbors has wifi provided by our cable internet company, but I didn't see that name on my Spyder, so it must be farther away.

Still no Carplay, though, even though the printed copy of the Operators Guide and the electronic copy I downloaded both have sections on connecting to Carplay on my Spyder.

Well further update on the screen issues travesty....Yes BRP sent a new cluster to my dealer. Got it installed and cant get it coded to the bike ( requires VIN ) Dealer is now unhappy with BRP now too.

So they sent the file(s) off to BRP to get them to fix it .....may be BRP can remote in to fix it over the 'net. Dunno.... but I am not gonna accept a bike back with screen issues. BRP needs to fix this now..this is not a dealer issue it is a manufacturer issue and incompetence and poor QC.....

Dealer has also mentioned that other BRP products like some of the new 4 wheelers use the exact same screen ....and yes they are having similar problems screen goes blank, issue with BT and WIFI not working as well as ACP not working at all either.

BRP has a major problem and i believe it is a hardware issue with truly faulty parts.

Way to go BRP. Take peoples money for a product with non working features! :yikes: I want to buy one so I can join the club.. :lecturef_smilie: NOT! LOL

How many WiFi networks show up on your selection screen? I'm in a residential hood but I see probably 2 dozen SSIDs on mine. That's why I wonder if it just can't handle that many networks in close proximity.

I also have a mesh network, not sure if it's being confused by that. If it would ever connect once I could bind it to the closer AP but until I see it in my list of connections in the management interface I can't do that either.

Since it won't connect to my iPhone's hotspot in normal or compatibility mode either I suspect *maybe* it's due to WiFi congestion.

I went out and tried again, asking it to look for other networks. It found 11.

I'm in a residential area that's a bit out in the country, and most of the houses are on at least 1/4 acre lots, and many have larger lots.
Google Maps shows about 30 houses within a 1/2 mile or so of where I live.

My network was near the bottom of the list, which I only found by using my finger on the display to scroll through the list.
I then pressed on my network name in the list with my finger, and it connected.

I don't know if it's a problem with connecting to your mesh network, but it might be that the Spyder is just confused by the mesh protocols.

Just got off the phone with BRP. I was told it is now available (again). Will try when I get home. Told me to be sure the bike is connected to my WiFi. Not expecting much.

I connected my Spyder to wifi a little over 30 minutes ago and there was nothing.

Guess I'm going back to the garage...

I've been following this thread since the beginning. I too have a 2024 RT-L that I pre-ordered last fall largely due to the promises of the 10.25" screen. This is my third RT, and I was tired of the small screen and having to drill down any number of times to get to the item I wanted. ACP was the "icing on the cake" that I was happy to see, and I was (am) disappointed that it is not there. My bad luck came to bear on the day of the aborted ACP download. My download was about 50% done when it suddenly stopped. Patiently I waited for it to begin again but it never did. Finally, I got a "Download Failed" message. My dealer thinks that that BRP aborted the download right in the middle of my attempt. Talk about bad luck! Now the Media applet doesn't work, and the Radio applet wants to play music all the time. Killing the volume is the only way to shut it up. I plugged in to two new Spyders at my dealer and they both worked perfectly so I know it is not a cable or iPhone issue. Anybody out there have a similar problem? I'm hoping that the ACP, download whenever it comes, will fix this issue.

I was wondering about that :) My SSID is near the bottom of the list too, figured maybe after first N entries it fails or something. The SSID on my iPhone hotspot starts with same letter so it is also near the bottom.

I need to try a few more times with the bike away from a lot of SSIDs to see if it then reliably connects to my iPhone hotspot. It did once when there were only a few listed but that may have just been a fluke as well. But it has *never* connected to my iPhone at home, and only twice to my home WiFi.

I went out and tried connecting again, and it had a bit of a problem connecting to my Wifi, but then was successful.

And no updates to download as of 3pm US Central time May 8, 2024.

Checked again a couple minutes ago and no updates available.

Hello AMKRAT
Thank you for the post.
Well, all I can say is you're not alone.
When I purchased my Spyder I was able to listen to music from my iPhone; now the music arrows show up but nothing else; pressing the buttons does not help; and even starting the music on my iPhone still doesn't help...

All I can do now is listen to the radio, and the power button that was on the screen is no longer there.
The radio starts up every time I turn on or start the Spyder.
I never received any of the updates that were out there, so it was not because of a failed download like you mentioned.

My Spyder will connect to my iPhone even if it's locked, well most of the time; it's an iPhone 8+
It is a hit and miss thing on connecting to my WiFi; sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes I have to go into settings to force a connection.
I also have two WiFi spots, one at home and one at work, and if it tries to connect at work and fails, when I get home it still shows "trying to connect", and then I have to force it to disconnect.

This is my second Spyder with a 'new for that year' cluster; I purchased a 2018 RT that was the first year with an all-digital screen; my 2017 had half analog and half digital.
The 2018 worked great from the beginning, everything worked like it should, altho I did have to wait for the app companies to finish condensing the apps to work on the screen, but nothing like this.
I had firmware updates (that had to be done at the dealer) but nothing major, and still nothing like what we're seeing now.

Grabs popcorn and butter and a beer.....

I'm also in this mess since my cluster was literally ****'d. Still waiting on BRP to respond to my dealer regarding the new cluster BRP sent them to install, which they can't get linked to the bike properly....

But at least I'm with miserable company. How many of you guys have clusters that are at least working? Gauges, etc. just not BT and WIFI? I can't even drive mine since the new cluster refuses to cooperate with the bike and the ECU!

Actually, ACP isn't my worst issue, not having an iPhone, but I need the media app to work for phone music, and I also have the same issue with the radio - it doesn't shut off, I can only turn down the volume! 24' RTL

Other than the missing Carplay issue, my 2024 Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky works fine, including all of the gauges.

I connected my Spyder to my home Wifi network earlier today, and it connected fine, but told me there were no updates available to download.

When my Spyder is turned on and my iPhone is reasonably close, it does show as being paired to my iPhone, and my Spyder shows up on the iPhone's list of bluetooth devices as "BRP_nnnn", where nnnn is the last four digits of my Spyder's VIN.

So I just did this test.

1) Tried to connect to home SSID, Guest SSID, and iPhone SSID. Would not connect to any of them. Fat fingered the password on iPhone hotspot, and it told me the password was wrong on the bike, so it is talking a bit to the wireless networks. I then intentionally fat-fingered the PW to my home networks and again was told the password was wrong.

2) Rode 5 minutes away to new gas station with nothing around it. Only 1 SSID showing and that was for gas station. Enabled hotspot on phone, picked iPhone hotspot SSID and voila, it connected just fine within about 10 seconds! Checked for updates, nothing of course.

3) Rode to Chipotle, ensured the Hotspot icon went off on my iPhone when I went inside. Came back out, bike reconnected fine to iPhone hotspot.

4) Got home, ate my Chipotle (priorities!). Came out to garage, and bike will not connect to anything again.

So not 100% conclusive but it's now connected as expected to iPhone hotspot twice when I am in an area with very few SSIDs, and/or WiFi congestion. When/if the ACP update is released I'll just ride down to gas station and download the update there on my hotspot...

This is really interesting. I live in a neighborhood with lots of wifi networks. When I went to connect the RT, my network showed up at the bottom of the list, but it did connect for long enough to say that there were no updates available. It disconnected and reconnected repeatedly, so I wonder if it does indeed struggle with a lot of networks around.

I’m sorry yours has been so frustrating, but thank you for your scientific experiment; now I have something else to try. And hey, you got Chipotle out of the deal!

Too bad you can't just download it on a flash drive and flash the firmware from the usb port.

My wifes mazda can do this when it is changed from the mazda os to android auto, a usb drive is used to flash it from the cars usb port.

She's been needing to have some recall work done and it will get done with an official version. If I wanted to I could go download one from the newsgroups to flash it with but I don't trust them anymore.

Yeah that'd be a great option. Both my cars allow me to update the head unit via USB, surprised this one doesn't do that.

I will repeat this test in the future when I am at other locations with minimal SSIDs to see if the iPhone connection test is repeatable.
