Anyone heard anything about Indian motorcycles since Polaris/Victory bought them?

Just a curious question. Has anyone heard any further information about Indian motorcycles?

Polaris/Victory purchased the brand in April of 2011 and its been pretty silent since then.

I went to their website and nothing even came up when I used the search engine.

I don't want to buy one--but its just one of those "loose end" things that sometimes get me

thinking.

 Good catch ... I had forgotten about Polaris buying them. I haven't heard anything, but now that you've picqued my interest...
I love a project that I can do at work that isn't actually work!:ohyea:

They had a big display at the International Motorcycle Show Minneapolis in Feb. I think the lowest priced bike was $32,000+

So far according to my Victory Dealer,They won't be selling the Indians out of Victory dealerships.:dontknow:

Or Polaris dealerships.

:agree: with firefly.

You would think that it would be logical--but with the prices on the Indian--the dealers would have to carry a very large $ inventory figure.

If Polaris does not get behind the marque, its probably destined for a quick demise.

Maybe, they bought it for a tax write off?????????

That's really odd... you would think they would want to expand the dealer line..... hmmmmm

If a Polaris dealer or a Indian dealer from a previous Indian reincarnation was already selling them they'll be the first selling, They [Polaris] don't want to muddy up the Victory line.
Same reason Scion and Toyota are separate.

We have an Indian Dealer here in Fresno California, and there are at least five others across the country. They are selling three 2012 Models, The Vintage, Darkhorse and Classic. It looks like they went the stand alone Dealership route for three or four of the locations. Very expensive bikes.

I seems odd... If they're not going to aggressively promote them, and they've priced them solidly in the realm of the pure custom-shop bikes; how do they expect to survive? :dontknow::gaah:

About 3 iterations ago, they had an Indian dealership here. I went in a looked around. The bikes were enough to make me drool. The price tags at that time were in the low 30's--so I bit my tounge and did not buy.

I would still have the skeptical feeling today--wondering--if I buy one of these, will there be someone around to service it in the future? Oh, and price is still a big factor.

I gotta laugh do anyone of you realy know what a write off is. :dontknow:

As far as I know, it's a loss as an example that you can claim on your taxes for a reduction. You can use losses at a horse race track (for example) as a write off against any winnings that you have to claim. Of course wikipedia (info anyone can enter) has a number of different write offs listed:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Write-off

Okay, now you can enlighten us.

What i was referring to was that, Polaris didn't buy and start up Indian to get a tax credit.

Not a tax credit. But I will bet that if Indian does not turn out good for them, they will end up losing money on the deal--and get a tax write off for the loss.
