• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone have a link to the thread on Aux gas tank?

A while back, someone posted some pix of a custom gas tank installation (which I think was in answer to an unrelated post). It appeared to be a fiberglass car-style tank with the requisite hoses etc. I lost the post and cannot seem to locate it again. Any help would be appreciated, as it gets tiresome planning a trip with the POI's defined by gas station. locations<G>. Tnx. RAG

You're probably thinking of Mr Orange. It sure is a sweet set-up

Here is his thread outlaying all his mods, to include his custom gas tank.

Pretty neat indeed, but I really don't see the need for extra fuel. You'd have to be in some pretty desolate areas of the US before you won't find a gas station every 150 or so miles. Most would be ready for a leg stretch after 150 miles anyway.

I've got 43,000 miles on my Spyder now and have yet to plan a trip using gas stations as POI's. I start looking for gas around 110-120 miles and the closest call I ever had was on my Sturgis trip when I went around 168 miles between stations.

5 Gallons has to weigh around 31 pounds -- plus the weight of the tank--- with max weight of 35 lbs in the trunk that doesn't leave much for anything else. Too much weight up front could also adversely affect the handling.

Glad this setup works well for some- and looks like a professional setup -- but I just don't get the need for it....
