• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone else have website opening issues over the last couple of days?

Yes, your DESS thread is still a Sticky and available; and the points thing has always been around, just not shown &/or utilised much, as is still the case (at least for now! ;))

OK. I did not know that the points thing was around. Where can I send a PM to someone on this site?

I'm not a big fan of the new website format, but I'm sure there was a good reason for the change.

I'll get used to it eventually.
The former platform was no longer actively supported, which rapidly became a major maintenance and ongoing operational issue  ... so something had to happen if we wanted to keep the Forum, and fairly quickly at that... :cautious:

Click on their username and one of the links in the drop-down list should be 'Send direct message'. Then you'll need to watch the envelope & bell symbols just to the right of your username up toward the top right corner of the page for the little red numbers that'll tell you there's something waiting for you to look at. And if you can't readily access the username of someone you want to message, you can also click on the envelope shown to the right of your username up in the top right corner of the page; then click on 'Send direct message' from the bottom of the drop-down list there. (y)

We are all still on a bit of a learning curve with this new format, so you might need to bear with us a bit as we work out how to do things and move around the new Forum.

HI Pete,

Thanks for the info. I'll get to use to this new website.

OK. I will.

So that is why this forum has a new look and etc.

Well, I tried to get on site earlier today and got the usual messages that said the site was not working. Came back a couple hours later and we have an entirely new site.

I am very impressed with the new set up. It came as a complete surprise to me and others. I like the NEW look. All of the same functions are still up an running as near as I can determine. The post count shows me that nothing seems to have changed. To those responsible for the upgrade, I say good for you.

Give things a day or two to get rolling, don't be afraid to click on anything "new" to you. Some things have been moved a bit, but they seem all there to be found. In a week or so, we should all have things figured out.

Bottom line, I like the fresh look for 2025 and beyond. (y)

I used the icon that brings up all "new" posts on threads since I last looked in. That seems to be missing with this new look. Sure hope it comes back. And my quick link to the Spyderlovers sight no longer works. I assume I need to replace it with a new link.....?

Try this:

Yes, you'll need to create a new link.

Hope this helps :)
Thanks. What I miss is the icon on the individual threads that brought up new posts on that thread since my last visit. Clicking on "new posts" brings up all new postings for the entire forum but doesn't isolate the new posts on individual threads. As it is now, I have to sift through various posts to find new postings on threads of interest. I'll keep looking and trying stuff. Sure hope that new posts icon for the individual threads has not been deleted though. I found it very useful. And, yes, I'm in the process of creating a new quick link to get to the forum home page.

I had a spyderlovers Icon on my computer. But did I didn't have any trouble logging on to the new website.

I like the new web site, just trying to work it all out
