Anyone else get riled about two wheelers dumping on Trikes?

This topic seems to be the same just different people , you ride your spyder cause you like it and like to ride . I wave to all riders no matter what scooter to 3 wheelers trikes or spyder's !
if you like your bike and enjoy riding who the hell cares what anyone else thinks !!!!!

Have fun on your bike and enjoy the open air !

There are a tremendous number of "motorcycle owners" out there who don't want to know that it isn't what you ride, it's that you ride. I won't call them bikers, they haven't bothered to try to get there yet.
My history with motorcycles goes back 60 years, in that time, I've ridden what I want, where I want, when I want. If people dislike what I ride, they don't have to ride with me, but it works both ways, I don't have to ride with them.
I'd better stop here,

john

Very well said. :agree:

I go to a restaurant and order liver and onions. I get ridiculed every time. But I like L&O's and it doesn't bother me at all. I don't try to push my preference off on anyone else but I savor every bite and no one is going to ruin my meal.

There was a couple here in the early days of the RT. They were Harley riders. They really enjoyed the camaraderie of riding with their friends but they never really enjoyed 2 wheels. They purchased an RT and they were both just glowing here on Spyderlovers. For them, a dream come true.

Everything was wonderful until they went riding with their Harley friends. Those 'Friends' give them such a hard time that they ended up selling their Spyder any buying another Harley.

That is just a shame.

Enjoy life. Do things your way and let others do the same. If you run into someone with a one way attitude, fell sorry for them but don't join in the suffering.

Ron,
If you get down to Ga. go to the Hole in the Wall. They have best Live and Onions there, it's right on the square in Blairsville, Ga. If the
GG Taurus would have been in the US when I was looking in 2011 I wouldn't have a Spyder now.

Agree. The ones that don't wave I don't wave. Don't lose any sleep over it. Our numbers are growing and they're getting older:thumbup:

ride/drive what you like and can afford. Be nice and wave if you feel like it, if they do not wave back, Forget them.
I have belonged to a Gold wing club (OH X-2)for several years, nice bunch of people and welcoming, but I was told by another Spyder rider from a diiferent club, they were asked not to ride with some members. A GWRRA offical said, that was not right, So who knows.
Life is to short to get real worked up about this, A slight problem, then forget it.

Although I'm new to three wheels (not two wheels), I'm not new to people like you are describing. Folks with attitudes like that are usually equal opportunity critics and don't limit themselves to just the subject of motorcycles. They are routinely all around douche bags, and they have no standing in my world. I don't think they should in your world either.

I SECOND THAT:yes::thumbup:

Bull:cus: TThat's terrible:opps:

I simply won't ride with people like that. Not worth it.

Not all motorcycles are Harleys, not all guitars are Martins, not all car racing is NASCAR. I just ignore people who don't understand that.

anyone else get riled about 2 wheelers dumping on trikes

I had my doubts when I first bought mt RT-S. I rode a 2 wheeler for
30 years. Safety, knee issues and the fact that my wife no longer felt
safe on a 2 wheeler any longer led me towards the Spyder. My 2 wheel
friends started to bust on me. Other 2 wheel riders that I encountered
would look at the strange vehicle out of curiosity then make their
comments about not being a real motorcycle. Harley riders never waved.
I finally realized that I enjoyed the ride, the safety and the comfort so
what others thought didn't matter. I also decided that if my 2 wheel
friends couldn't accept my choice of a ride then that was their problem.
If you enjoy your ride, that's all that matters.

Pay no attention to the guys that have been brain washed by a company that has spent a lot of money promoting an aged product.
Not just that company, a friend of mine rides a Vstar and yesterday he told me the spyder is not a real bike, i told him that the wind in my face dont know the difference, :clap:He then said he loves my harley and he hopes to buy one some day:doorag:

I currently ride a Harley -- I posted on here about my stance when dealing with Bike Bandit. They won't get my money because they posted the "Rules of Waving" and it was stated that you don't wave to three wheelers since they are not motorcycles.

Heres the deal -- I'm tough skinned and I stuck up for the 3 wheelers since I have several friends who ride them -- I don't care the reason -- but they are in my opinion still riding.

I've never met a motorcycle (2 or 3 wheel) that was a jerk -- however I have met riders of those bikes who were jerks.

I wave to everyone

Hubby (Tobor 9) and I ride with and hang out with a lot of other bike people - all the way from the crotch rockets to a Boom trike. Never had any bad or rude comments. They'll say it's not for them but that's ok. Like someone said under a similar thread, if they don't wave at least they're going in the other direction so it doesn't matter!!!:roflblack: ;)

So usually I'm pretty thick skinned...(and yes I posted this on Brothers of the Third Wheel as well). I was member of a FB group called International Brotherhood of Adventure Riders and these folks went off on a rant of posts about Spyders and Trikes in general as not being 'real' motorcycles and for the old and broken etc etc. Stuff we've all heard but ... from an International Brotherhood?

Since I have the KTM I hang out on those kind of sites as well and dual sports/enduros are usually an anything that gets your knees in the breeze is good type of crowd...

Mebbe I'm just thin skinned since my Spyder was bought from a close friend that died from ALS, but I'm getting real tired of this 'who I won't wave it' game in the motorcycle community.

Oke, rant off.

My wife and I were "friends" with a couple that were more interested in image than the pleasure and freedom of riding. We bought a Honda and they bought a harley. They stopped calling us so we went over to their house to see if we offended them in some way. His wife finally confessed to my wife that they didnt want to ride with us because we bought a honda. Last time we seen them & dont miss them a bit!

It's not just 3 wheels.

I haven't yet owned a Can AM Spyder, but I'm interested for sure. I've owned and ridden motocycles for over 44 years, not one of them has ever been a Harley Davidson. Of the sixteen bikes I have owned only four of them weren't made in Japan, two Triumphs and two Victory motorcycles. The Harley owners who are snobs (not all of them are) only accept the Victory as they are made in the USA, but not completely. Does this bother me? Only a little bit and only when I think about it but it's no big deal. When the time comes and I do go to three wheels (no matter which end) it still won't bother me much, still no big deal. As long as I'm still riding all of that snob B.S. doesn't matter a bit to me.

Wait till your out riding and his left foot hits some gravel and he drops his bike. Tell him your just too old to help him pick it up !

Spyders and Trikes in general as not being 'real' motorcycles and for the old and broken etc etc.

Go up to Canada, they wave at everybody and you'll see more Spyders than you imagined existed. It will make you proud to be a Spyder owner. Besides that, I am old and broken and damned proud of how I got that way. :D

Why give your joy and power away....

If you allow others to rile you like that, then they will own you.

Chris

I soooo agree with Chris....I wave at everyone and I realllllly don't care what they do or say when we meet up in person. BUT have to say...I meet tons of folks while on Studly and they are awesome, wonderful and I'm blessed to have a diverse group of folks cross my path. So if you continue to give others your power than you are guaranteed frustrations. Your call, your decision, your results.
