• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone besides me slowing down to Prolong Rides?

Anyone besides me find yourself slowing down the last 20 or so miles just to extend your riding time?

Much of my riding these days is test riding customers bikes for troubleshooting or after work is done. I often find myself not wanting to come back to the shop! (Please don't tell our customers!)

Yes & No - usually double-checking the fuel gauge if not topping off, ready for tomorrow's ryde (U-turn at the driveway) unless I have meet up plans for a group or something.

As well as this:

(for a laugh... but also true!)

**don’t ever think you can just get gas on the way to work - you WILL be late! Get it the night before. **

When I have my bike down there you can ride it as long as you want as long as you leave me your keys, or maybe we can just take a toot together! :2thumbs:

The rest of the time, depending on what the day's journey is, I find myself just letting the wind blow me wherever, GPS on, and a full tank of gas is all I care about!! Ride my own ride and if the guy in the rear don't like it, pass. Retirement sucks that way!!!:2thumbs:

I was kind of the opposite. When I lived in AK, the mailbox was a half mile down the road. The mail run many times turned into a hundred mile drive. The last few miles of most every ride had to be sped up because nature would call.

I go to home Depot or Albertsons, which is 11 miles away. Of course I have to drive another 35-40 to get back home. Gotta luv it!!!!

Leaves are just changing colour and beginning to fall here in Ontario Canada where I live. What a sight on old country roads. My Wife loves it.. so slowing down makes Her happy. Soon time to store. Enjoy your rides.

I don't slow my pace. If I'm near the end of a planned run and want to stay out a bit longer, I go into 'wander' mode and tack on some extra miles.

Wander Mode, I like that tag.
This what we do when we're not quite finished riding for the day.

I don’t find myself slowing down towards the end of a ride, but I do find that overall, I’m riding slower. In my younger years, I would think nothing of riding 150 - 160 km/hour and now that I’m in my 80’s, my preferred speed is 80 - 90 km/hour. I’m also now riding more on secondary highways. Just did a beautiful fall day ride of 132 kms. Great sunny fall day, temp around 15° to 18°C.

I actually prefer between 30-45 mph. I like the sound of the bike at those speeds, but more importantly, I like being able to take in my surroundings. Going 55 or more, I just can't enjoy the scenery as much because things go by too fast. Don't get me wrong, I do drive the faster interstates, but it's typically when I'm on my own and not with the wife. When I'm riding with her, I like to enjoy every inch of the ride.
