• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone been told this about top speed why it won't go above 105 mph

Fast is fun, but can be Expensive

My RS will go 100 easy with me with quite a bit of throttle left. Close to that with passenger, but did not want my wife to find out, so slowed down.

My dealer told me the same....

There's DEFINITELY a limiter on the Spyder. I hit the damn thing about twice a week on the regular. Whatever or however they do it, is beyond my technical know how.... Bottom line is, My 2011 RSS will NOT go over 120MPH to save its life. Has nothing to do with aerodynamics, or wind resistance, or the space time continuum bla bla bla... It's limited by design. Probably by the same ahole who decided to put the bike into limp mode when it faults. As a matter of fact, If you maintain a speed of 120MPH for more than about 30-45 seconds, your check engine light will come on. No limp mode thank god;.... Just a check engine light. The first time it happened, I called my dealer about it. After all the "Not safe, Yaddie Yadie Yah", he basically told me it's nothing to be concerned about & the light will not return unless I maintain that speed again. I of course had to immediately get back on, & do it again to make sure he was right ;). Hit 120MPH, got to 121MPH for about 15 seconds, held the speed for 30-45 seconds...., Check engine.... Light stays on till you power down & restart. It's a PITA to be limited, but oh well... It's a Spyder, not a Hayabusa. It only sucks when you think your flying & a kid on a crotch rocket jets past you like your going 40MPH.:p

So what was the source of the "check engine" light?
High engine temperatures? :dontknow:
There would be a reason... and it most likely was only tangentially affected by the spped...
:roflblack: "Limited by design..." :roflblack:

No idea why they make the check engine light turn on.. I'd bet my left nut it's not a temp issue... If it were..., shutting the bike off & back on, wouldn't clear the light IMO. I heard the "check engine" light no longer lights up on the 2014's under the same circumstances.. There's a new light that says "Slow the Eff Down, Fool!" :D

I'm not gonna lie... If this thing had no limiter, I'd probably be plastered on the side of the highway, (God Forbid)... 30 more mph would be a kick though.... & REMOVE THE DAMN LIMP MODE!!!!!

They obviously had to do everything they could, to make a 3 wheel crotch rocket "safe", but MAN do I wish that Limp Mode dude called out sick that day..

Real photo evidence why I don't let Teddy in the drivers seat any more .............

if you want to see some big numbers...

Y'all are talk'n about MAX Speed :lecturef_smilie: Check our Teddy's AVERAGE Speed :yikes: and you'll understand why he HAS to be Chauffeured now on:ohyea:

:yikes:Alright dude.... WTF.... You GOTTA explain this.... As Arnold said.... Who is your Daddy, & What Does he Do?

Question... Did Teddy ever look at his watch to determine if he had any "Lost time"... I'm thinking Teddy was cruisin along at about 40-45mph....., minding his own business..., Enjoying the cool breeze... Then BAM!!! UFO Sucked his little azz into the mother ship at 200mph. Probe was too big, so it dropped poor Teddy back down at about 178mph... Next thing you know, Teddy gets home, looks at his display, and says "DAMN.... I didn't know I was moving so damn fast... I GOTTA take pics of this..."

I think all vehicles sold today have limits set in there tunes.

Most trucks and vans are limited to 110 mph.

US sport cars can range from 130 to 155 mph.

Mustangs and Vettes I believe are both set at 155.

Of course for cars and trucks you can change that w a tuner, not sure how the motorcycle world works?

.
Not true. I can't speak for all sportscars, but Vettes are not OEM limited. A ZO6 will do 165 in 4th and almost 200 in 5th all day long. Been there, done that .

.... Still waiting for Teddy's Explanation of those numbers.... Maybe that display was ripped out & retrofitted into that Z06.. ;)

Silly SpyderLover ........ Everyone Knows Dogs Don't Wear Watches ............. LMAO

From the pictoral evidence, I wouldn't say your too far off the target  about him having 'Close Encounters' with 'Visitors'

:roflblack:.... I KNEW it... looks like that Damn UFO sucked the tupperware right off your Spyder too.... Those BASturds.....

My top speed is 123 (on the Speedo/113 crossing a CHP lazer), and Doc Doru has the world record, laid down at the Bonneville Salt Flats, of 123 and change.

Had mine up to 109 today at 8200rpms. Bike just didn't seem to have much left to over come the drag. That is with the Calsci tinted shorty windshield so it might do a few more mph with the stock shield and the driver in a full tuck laying on the handlebars.:shemademe_smilie:

are you sure

not just to say it, i am over 300 pounds and today i was trying to catch up to my 2 friends and i got my rt up to 102 MPH and it felt like it still wanted to keep going, so who said 105 is top speed

At what mph range do you hit the rev limiter in 4th?

You know I'm not real sure, I've only hit the rev limiter maybe once and was not looking down. I normally shift at about 8800 rpms because the bike just falls flat after 8500rpms and redline shows to be 9000 on my bike. I would bet the limiter is right around 9300 or 9500rpms.
