• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anybody seen this eBay posting...

IMO, very, very, few ads on eBay for motorcycles of any kind, are legit. The perpetrators often lift pictures from other ads. Back in 2006 I sent an eBay seller a question about a Goldwing he had listed. Next day my eBay account was hacked. Sure glad my Paypal account had a different password. Never did hear from the guy. Had to call eBay security folks to get back into my account.

Craigslist can have bogus ads too, but nowhere near like eBay. I bought my RT from a Craigslist ad.

I bought my 13 rts with only 400 miles on ebay and it was everything and more than advertised. Price was best deal I could find anywhere. Recently I sold my old trike, with low mileage, on ebay and got more for it than I had it advertised for locally. I was very honest about bikes attributes and just let the auction roll. So, some ads are legit and good deals, too.

Sorry you got hacked. Hope they eliminate this scam asap.

I actually have have just the opposite impression. I have been doing ebay since it's inception and have never gotten a raw deal. Maybe once an item wasn't exactly as described, but still a legit deal. So I am 99% confident on ebay, when I know I am on their legit site and not thru a link like in the first post. Always gotta be careful online!

However, with Craigslist, I have seen numerous fraud items. I am always very very skeptical of any item on Craig's List and I would NEVER buy anything unless I could pick it up in person.

I just feel feel like ebay has better control of the process from seller to buyer, and they have guarantees in place to ensure you don't get screwed. Craig's List on the other hand is a 'free for all' like the Wild West!

Safe shopping everyone and always, CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!

I suppose it could be more than very, very, few are legit. But for certain many aren't, so one must be careful. One thing I do is see if I can find any other info about the seller via Google searches. And I always use AMEX card for purchases. I have to change the payment method every time I use Paypal, but if I get stung AMEX will help me out. Lot better assurance than Paypal offers. I got reimbursed for fake razor blades one time that Paypal said I was too late filing a claim on.

The sad part is that there are so many obvious scams on e Bay , but the Co. Cannot seem to minimize them.

:agree: While Craigslist worked when I sold my pick-up, out of four calls I got, only one was for real.

Darn, thought I had me a nice back up Spyder ! :roflblack::roflblack:

That's because I bought it, and already mailed my cash (as requested) to him in Zambia. On top of that to sweeten the deal he is paying the airfare to pick it up in the United States.

Can I buy in on the deal?
There's some railroad stocks being held by a Yugoslavian investment broker, that he says are in my name...

It's been re-listed and if you go to eBay Motors, and search can-am motorcycles, you'll see it . . . there is also an eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program to protect from fraud as long as you do the purchase entirely through eBay. . .

That's the catch. They mention the "protection" program, but if you do not buy it through eBay, in otherwords using Paypal, you are SOL.

Before I purchased my used Spyder from a dealer, I was looking around and found one that was being sold because they were being shipped to Afghanistan with the marines, and needed to sell it. It was located about 2 hours from me and I told them that I would have a cashier's check in hand with me and I would hand it over AFTER I see the trike and take it for a ride. They wanted to just ship the trike to me and if anything was wrong with it, I could ship it back to them and they would pay the return freight. Ya, right - bull**** alarm went off. So I played with the person and kept on telling them that I was sending them a cashier's check, and checked back with them several times if they had received it yet. It was SOOOOO much fun to play with them - after the 4th email asking if they had received my check, they finally gave up answering me.

This is a SCAM - and its seems like they like to prey on people looking to purchase a used Spyder and their hook is making the price way too good to be true.
