• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any way to bypass startup screen?

I looked for a discussion on this and can't find anything. On a 2015 RT Ltd is there any way to avoid/bypass the startup screen where you have to press CMD (read the instructions screen) to continue to start the bike? It appears there is some kind of bypass as if I only stop for a moment, it appears that I don't have to press it again to start the bike.

NO! But from what I understand the time interval on the 14's and up is shorter than the earlier models. Sure would be nice if BRP could update the earlier models. So enjoy the faster start...:bowdown:

No way around it. It's a pain in the ass. I always turn the key on immediately when approaching the bike so I don't have to sit and wait. It's most annoying when traveling with others and u are visiting while sitting on the bikes and then you're like okay let's go and you've forgotten to turn on your key. They fire their harley up and are immediately on their way and you're sitting there cussing the spyder waiting for it to allow u too start it:banghead:

With any computer you have to wait for it to boot up, so your :f_spider: has a computer to handle all the safety features [stability control, traction control etc.]
and all the smog system and monitor the engine performance.
the more systems your bike has the longer it takes for the computer to boot up.
You bought your :f_spider: for its looks and fun factor and for the safety factor.
enjoy it even though it takes a while to boot up.
Your Harley friends do not have all the systems that a :f_spider:has and that is why they can turn key and start

If you turn the key back on less than 5 minutes after you turn it off. The mode button does not need to be pressed. Also you do not need to wait for the screen to fully boot up. You can start the engine with CAN AM still showing.

With my RT that only works for 3 minutes.. with my F3 there is no warm up , you turn the key press the mode and start all in a matter of less than 10 seconds

I just tried my ST out of curiosity because I was not sure where I got the 5 minutes from. I waited 4 minutes and 50 seconds and it started right up.

I am also glad that the wait is gone on the F3's. Time for BRP to roll out an update for others to get rid of the wait.

i do what bob said, as soon as i get to the bike i turn on the key than put my helmet on. now if we could sign a wavier saying it is ok to omit this start up screen, i will be the first one to sign it so they can do a software change to eliminate the process

It is bizarre for each model of Spyder to have different eccentricities

Yes it will normally accomplish this, though it has given me problems before.

On some instances, the computer detunes the engine. Sounds wierd, no warning screen or anything, simply no zip, zing or bark out the exhaust. First few times it did this, I could feel it lacked power, but was drivable. Shut it down, wait 10 minutes, reboot and all runs well.

This has also happened if the wife opens the trunk during the boot sequence. So now I ask her to put the stuff in the trunk well ahead of or after the engine is fired.

Overall no big deal and not often, but it is a quirky problem. I have even asked the wife to confirm while riding with the soft engine condition, she too can hear the exhaust note is soft rather than crisp, also there is no off throttle pops when decellerating.

As others have said, I simply turn the key on and proceed to get my helmet on and usually the spyder is ready before I am.
15,20 or 30 seconds, not a big deal for the boot up of the systems.

That is weird, maybe a 1330 thing. Twisting the throttle during boot is not good and the manual warns you not to do that. I have never had that on my ST or GS before that.

All information above correct. Some :ani29:'s are a bit faster than others when it comes to the re-boot after a short stop (gas fill, etc.).

I will also caution to not rush the nanny. Sometimes, but not always, you may get the funny E when trying to shift into first gear or reverse.

Nanny will let you go when she is ready. Now that I think about it, that seems to be true with most ladies. :roflblack::roflblack:

Not bad...

the RS boots up pretty quick. Could complain but just a little...like the "read the safety card" bit...:banghead: that should be timed out...after 500 miles it goes away...:banghead:
