Any tips, suggestions, vids on changing F3 Spark Plugs - R&R Now Done!

OK all you F3 aficionados out there... have any of you replaced your own BOUGIES, (French for SPARK PLUGS)...? and if so, would you please provide any tips, suggestions, videos, etc to help a fellow F3 rider.... what i can see, is the need to pull the entire top off the F3 to access the plugs... hopefully somebody has found a way to get around this... if so, please advise the rest of us as to just how we go about it... i found 1 video on UTUBE:

and this guy has his beast down to the bones... he even states that it's a big job.... hope this isn't an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY to changed 3 plugs...

i'll be preparing my F3 for the ride out to the Deadwood, SD event in July, and i believe on getting an early start on the maintenance... already have the oil & gas/filters, brake pads & plugs... already did the brake fluid flush and anti-freeze... will check tires the day prior to leaving, since PSI can change without notice...

That guy claims he wasted his time removing most of those panels. Concentrate on the left side panel removal and I think you'll have it. I'm sure there will still be a lot of panel removal, that's just how Spyder maintenance goes it seems. You can find someone with a shop manual I'm sure but it seems you can always cheat that manual and remove less things than they suggest.

Well I have 11,000 miles and change is suggested at 28,000 miles SO Hopefully I will have a New Model Before then???

4 hrs & 3 beers later....
WOW.... the designers of the F3 didn't give consideration to ease of maintenance when they created this ride....
who would have known that you need to remove a headlight, seats and direction lights to replace your spark plugs... wow, just wow...
i finally got to see the top of the engine, and my bones were too tired to continue, so after the 4 hrs, i quit...
today i will continue, and provide additional pix to help you guys/gals out that will be doing your own R&R for the plugs...
btw; replace your fuel filter while you have it apart...

NO NEED to pull the Frunk.... just extra work for nothing....
keep in mind, the AIR BOX has 4 bolts holding it in.... 2 are obvious, 1 is towards the rear, kind'a hidden, and the 4th is behind and under, completely hidden...
good luck on your journey...
and NO, i never did the plugs on my RS....

Good to know. Thanks. When I originally did the plugs on the RT at 28k I had a lot of trouble on the right-hand half of the airbox. Thought it would be easier with the frunk off.

OK, done, fini..... :gaah:

I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN..... :lecturef_smilie: if plugs are needed, i'll buy a new SPYD3R..... :roflblack:
it was fun, but once is enough..... half dozen small bloody cuts, about 8 hrs labor... 1 bolt left over.... 5 beers consumed....
and i'm here to tell you that the OEM iridium plugs looks just fine, even with 45,000 miles of smiles on them.... see pix below...
i would say/think, that the OEM plugs that i pulled out would be good for another 60,000 miles or so...
some history: i pulled the plugs out of my wifes Camry... they were iridium, they had 104,000 miles on them, and the still looked fine...
i would NEVER tell my fellow SPYD3R RYDERS not to change their plugs per the BRP schedule, but i will take the risk with these new plugs for no less than another 100,000 miles of smiles...

BTW; if you do change your own, or have a dealer change them, change the GAS FILTER during this service - it's a HUGE job if you have to change the GAS FILTER by itself....

At least on the RS/GS/RSS there are short cuts and with the airbox off it's a breeze. Those look nightmarish :yikes: never looked but there must be an easier way....:dontknow:

lol, that was my video, in the end I really didn’t need to remove half the things I did, turned out I had a bigger issue than a bad plug and had to bring it to the shop under warranty luckily.
