There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Any thoughts for arthritis comfort

I am starting to have some finger/thumb pain which my doctor confirmed is the start of arthritis. He also said it will get worse, and there is no real cure. I love riding my spyder, as well as my bicycle, but noticed as time goes on the hands are getting more uncomfortable on any ride longer than 45 minutes or so. I ordered the Original Grip buddies, and hope that will help some.

Any ideas, other than advil that might help (exercises), hand positions etc?

I am 59, and now I am starting realize that getting old has its disadvantages(though as my 91 year old mom states "the alternative to getting old is even worse!").

By the way, this board is the best source of information, and often sympathy, I had found since I returned to m RT, after a year back on a motor-scooter.

Thanks all!

P.S. Sorry for al the posts tonight. I post in spurts, and since I had some time, I figured why not post them all at once.

what about using a tennis ball to squeeze to build up some more strength.. I know that your pain is mainly in the joints, so not sure that will help. What about wrapping before you ride?

A Cramp Buster may help. I don't have arthritis but I do have a Cramp Buster. No need to grasp the throttle, just press the Cramp Buster with the heal of your hand

I think this may answer the question I have in the thread I just posted

So, forgive my ignorance, does it make it hard to steer without messing up the throttle assist? When you want to take back control, you just lift up on the assist?

I have no difficulties steering with the Cramp Buster. As far as control, if you want to back off the throttle, just lift the heal of your hand or rotate your wrist. BTW, this is not a cruise control it just slips on over the throttle.

Thanks. I get it now. For some reason I was thinking it held the throttle into place. This makes much more sense. Very helpful. Thanks!

Those Cramp Busters can also be put on the left grip too. It allows you to relax that grip so as to give your hand a break!

I have similar issues on longer rides and like to remove my thumb from under the grips and rest my hands on top occasionally.

Cramp Buster works well. having an RT with cruise control makes a world
of difference. Gel padded gloves offer some additional comfort, as well as
hand protection.

Bigger grips...

If you want to go the full Monty, get a set of Kuryakyn grips...the larger the grips the easier it is on the hands. The K throttle grip has a heel on the end to use with the heel of your palm making the use much easier. My 2 cents worth.:bowdown:smoky

I too have seem to developed some pretty significant pain at the base of my thumb on long rides. Last year I rode nearly 10,000 miles on a trip to the east coast on my BMW bike and had no troubles. This leads me to believe it is the angle of the handlebars. I have installed OGBs but they havent helped at all. I find the only way to help it is to remove my thumbs from below the grips and place them on tops as previously mentioned. I have cramp busters from my bike and may just give them a try!

I, too, have moderate to sever arthritis in my hands (as well as back, knees, etc,). Iam also on Plavix so ibuprophen and aspirin are out. I have found relief using compression gloves from Tommie Copper. Check out their website. I use the fingerless style.

It looks like the previous posters have you covered. The solutions they recommend should give you some good asistance.
