There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Any suggestions on USB ports for driver and pass heating?

Hello everyone, I am new here.

I have just bought my first 2022 Can Am Spyder RTL.

I am looking to install some USB ports and power for heated for the driver and passenger.

I have searched through the forums, but didn’t find much for the newer models.

Any suggestions?

:welcome::congrats: on your new Spyder RTL and Welcome to the
Spyder forum. You should check with Lamonster Garage or Value accessories
both sponsor here. They should have what you are looking for
in a USB port and power for accessories.
Ryde safe and enjoy the Ryde

Come directly off your battery with a fused (15amp) lead with an SAE connector on the end you're going to use for heat clothing and USB connectors. Your SAE connector can be attached to a number of splitters and safely run many 12v items.

I didn't think USB would put out enough power for heated clothing.

That's true. However, the SAE connector will. I run two heated jackets on mine and charge our two Sena headsets via USB all at the same time off the SAE connector, which comes directly off the battery.

We both have PowerLet outlets installed for heated gear use as well as for emergency air compressor if needed. I've been able to rescue other motorcyclists with flat tires using my oulet and the air compressor I carry.

I ride solo and I installed a power port for my heated gear right up front. I also use it for my battery tender.

Most heated gear uses 12v and USB uses 5v. An SAE connector fused directly to the battery is the best way to get the 12v for heat. USB ports should be fused and connected to the battery through a relay controlled via the 'key on' power (assy port or license plate light).

You could use Y-cables with SAE but that can get a bit messy and can overload the cable with too much current draw for 2-up heating. Also, if you blow the SAE fuse, you lose the USB power too.

I just bought heated jackets from Cycle Gear. Each came with a 3ft pigtail. On one end, the pigtail has ring connectors and a fuse to connect directly to the battery. On the other end is a barrel connector that plugs into the jacket, similar to Gerbing.
3 ft was long enough to reach the driver's seat. I bought a 2 ft extension for the passenger seat. When not in use, the barrel connectors are capped under the driver's seat for easy access when needed.

That sounds like an excellent setup!

I use that same set up on my sled.

Going to use a 5' Ring terminal cable to Mono plug to go from the battery to under the riders seat. Then a 2' cable extension for the passenger heated gear or a SAE connector for the battery tender.
