Any suggestions for a Good seat treatment?

gkamer

Sadly passed away, December '23.
Any suggestions for a good cleaner/treatment for my 2018 RT? I don't want to use something oily or slippery just something to clean and treat the leather.

When my saddle customizer was all done, he cleaned the seat with something in a spray can. I asked what it was....window/glass cleaner was the answer. Got me some and use it regularly.

I used pledge on mine. At the beginning, mid and end of season not every time. My buddy uses meguiar leather cleaner and polish from Walmart

Are you certain the seat is leather? Unless it's an aftermarket product I don't believe it is. My 2014 Comfort Seat is not; it's a heavy duty vinyl product. To check, raise the seat and look at the inside of the lower edges. The seat is the last thing I do after washing the Spyder. I do not wash the seat but just wipe it down thoroughly with a damp towel I have used to dry the last of the machine after I have blown it off with a leaf blower. If it looks like it needs it, every so often I go over the seams with a toothbrush to get the dust out. I can swing either leg completely over the seat so the soles of my boots don't hit the seat mounting or dismounting.

You should see the raw edge of the material that the seat was made from, see if it's truly leather!

If it's the stock seat it's vinyl and a damp towel works well. If you do in fact have a leather seat try Chemical Guys leather treatment. Comes in two bottles, a cleaner and a conditioner. Works great and leaves the leather soft and supple. No slick or shiny coating left behind.

Mikey is in the bulls-eye. When you posted last evening, Greg, I went out to my Spyder and pulled maybe a 1/4" edge where the seat fabric is stapled to the seat pan and could clearly see the fabric strands on the back of the vinyl. As Navydad says, a damp towel has worked fine for me for almost seven years.

My 2020 RTL gets parked in the sun while I'm at work most days. I use 303 Marine Vinyl Cleaner and Protectant. Never let me down on my boat seats and the Spyder seats are pretty much the same grade vinyl.

I use 303 automotive interior and exterior spray on my seat and all my non painted plastic, and rubber pieces on my Spyder. I apply it at least every 30 days or if I have been in the rain. It has a matte finish and does not dry greasy. I really like 303 products. Used this and their tonneau cover spray on my truck for a long time. It sits outside and the plastic parts still look new.

I use Lucas Slick Mist on everything. Paint, plastic, seat and have even used it on windshield until I got some F4 windshield cleaner. The F4 makes the water roll off almost as good as rain X.

Would you mind posting a link to the one you're speaking of?

Love slick mist! I use that a lot as well as the Honda cleaner spray. I use that stuff only on my painted bits. I like the 303 better on my black plastics because of the matte finish. I find when I get Slick Mist on those they get to much of a shine and it gets steaky. Also when my legs hit it while riding it rubs off after some time. Then I end up will dull spots. I personally like the matte finish look better.

I third the 303. I have used it for years on my boats that stay outdoors and it protects the vinyl as good as anything I have ever used. This is the stuff I use, although I usually get it at West Marine instead of Amazon (303 Marine UV Protectant Spray for Vinyl, Plastic, Rubber, Fiberglass, Leather And More – Dust and Dirt Repellant - Non-Toxic, Matte Finish).
It's also all I use on the car dashboard and vinyl. I use Plexus on the windshield and shield on my hel
met.

Hope this helps!

Read reviews on Amazon for the 303 product (Aerospace Protectant). Many compared it to Armor All, giving the nod to Armor All since AA is less expensive. Just repeating what I’ve read. I haven’t tried 303 nor have I used Armor All on my Spyder RTL. The 303 Automotive Interior/Exterior (@Amazon) received better reviews
