I'm using a Motorola Atrix 2 phone, it came with Gingerbread (android 2.3.6) I just got a notification that Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) is available for it. My experience with Android 4 has been alright, but not wonderful. We have ASUS TF-101 tablets, which came originally with Honeycomb. About 6 months later, we had the chance to upgrade to ICS, which I did. Graphics, look and feel were great! I absolutely loved the change!, but then started noticing things like my browser shutting down, some lag in online apps, and such. So now after using it for a while, it seems like the gains I got were offset by added problems I had never seen before.
I'm now a little hesitant to upgrade my phone at this time.

I'm just wondering if anybody here has performed this upgrade, and if so, did all go smoothly? Also, if anybody has any insight for dealing with the above issues I can try.

I know I can't revert my tablet back to Honeycomb now without rooting it, and I don't want to be in the same boat with my phone.

Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream sandwich???
Are we on the Food Network Channel now? :roflblack:
Now I'm hungry again, and it's 2 hours to lunchtime! :gaah:

I just went to ICS on my droid bionic and have no issues and absolutely love the upgrade. I think they initialely(sp) had some issues with ICS and that is why it has taken so long for some phones to get it but it appears that those issues have now been resolved and all is good.

P.S. I was a soak tester for the droid bionic release andgot to really paly with it for about before it got released to everyone else on the bionic.

Thanks for the info. Asus did send out their upgrade quite early. I can only hope that they can patch it. I really like the features of ICS, but the "hiccups" are quite annoying. Almost to the point that I may try one of the convertable windows 8 laptop/tablets.

I also have the ICS on my Droid and I hate it. Since I did the upgrade, my phone freezes up all the time, texting and writing emails has become a real pain as it freezes all the time. It looks good but personally I hate it. I also know other people who did the upgrade and they like it. I guess try it and see for yourself.

Galaxy S III phone or Galaxy 2 Tablet

I currently have an iPhone that I use on the audio system on the Spyder RTS. I have the Galaxy Tab and like it. I'm thinking of upgrading my iPhone 3 to the Galaxy S III.
My question is : can I connect an Android device to the Audio system? Is there a harness available?
I saw another thread about a bluetooth device for $35, but wondering if there is a BRP hardwire through the existing system available (or aftermarket). I use it a lot so I'd rather get an iPhone 4 than loose the tunes, but overall would like to go the Android route

Mine RT came with a spare connector that allows me to hookup my MP3 Player instead of my Ipod so they have one available.

What are you looking to do ??

If you are looking to use the Galaxy iii as an MP3 player, that should be pretty simple enough.
You can use the 3.5 mm jumper cable and go from the Galaxy headphone jack into the 3.5 mm audio input to the spyder.
That input is a cable that has the din connection on one end for the spyder and the 3.5 mm female for the MP3 device.

You can listen, but you won't have any control over the device.

Am I being clear or just making matters worse ?

Essentially, you hook up the Galaxy the same way you would any other auxiliary MP3 player.

Thanks Bluesstratos. I received the mp3 connector as well but didn't know that it would still have the ability to change play lists etc. That Is great news!

You can't control the playlists of an android. The adapter only plugs into the earphone jack, so it displays as "aux" on the spyder. The only control you have is volume.

I would definitely upgrade, Ice Cream Sandwich was a significant upgrade over Gingerbread. Well worth it. If you're tech savvy you can even install Jelly Bean on the Atrix 2.

Bluetooth would be the way to go. I use a Galaxy S III with a Bluetooth adapter to speakers in my helmet. Works great, no need for an audio system at all.
