• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anti-Swaybar dilemma

I want to have the BajaRon Anti-sway Bar put onto my '12 RTL. It sounds like I could get the job done with my limited skills.
However, I don't have a floor-jack, ramps or stands anymore (haven't been wrenching for a while), but I do have tools. I don't have a ton of room left in my garage and I'm cheap... :D
Would I be better off having it installed by the dealer (assuming they'd do it) or purchasing the items needed? Any idea what a ballpark figure should be? I'm not sure I would ever use them again....

having wrenched do you have friends or nieghbors you could borrow from. Check and see but I think on your model you don't have to raise it up like the newer one. You can also check with rental places and auto parts stores....:thumbup:

Chupaca, borrowing may be a remote possibility due to not hangin with that crowd so much anymore. I hadn't even though of the rental option! That is certainly a very doable prospect. Thank you for that idea!
 
Check with Bajaron because I'm pretty sure the 12 model don't have to go so high to change out the bar. I have a set of plastic car ramps that I got at carquest for 40 bucks and the ramp part comes off to get it out of your way.

Bud you can get it done for a $100.00 or so which is nothing for a high roller like you. It will save time and trouble. I have two words for you "oil change"!:roflblack::roflblack:

They are probably 81/2 I can't measure them right now. Not home. I back the Spyder right up the ramps.

Ouch! Right in the kisser!!! You know me...been known to step over a dollar to pick up a dime (ooooh shiny)! :opps:
 
The 2008-2012 Bar Install only needs enough height for you to be able to get under the front of the Spyder. Car Ramps will do fine. You only need 2 as the rear wheel can stay on the ground. Petty much any set of ramps will do. I've even had customers nail short pieces of 2x6 together to make ramps out of material they already had around the house.

A bit more spendy, but I prefer an ATV jack because it has the ability to get the wheels up off the ground. But this is not necessary for a Bar Install.

This site is SO GREAT!!! Ask a question and get an answer! Thanks for all the quick responses everybody. So now what I save in not buying a jack, I can spend on something else.... I've already set aside $ for the Bar and Heim Links....perhaps some lighting...:D

Here's an idea which doesn't involve lifting your Spyder, but it will take more of your (free?) time.

I installed my BajaRon sway bar by taking off the frunk. With the frunk out of the way the sway bar is right there in front of you, as are the grease points for the front suspension bushes which I wanted to service. It made for an easy job all round and introduced me to areas of the Spyder I hadn't seen before. :shocked:

Another great idea! Maybe there's a Video in the DIY for that as well...I'm going to checking out Bob's (Finless) Bar Install video today a few times and will check for that one too.

If you were closer I would just haul my ramps over to your place and do the install with you. After doing one I am 100% sure we could be done in less than an hour. It is that easy.

I was really hoping to meet you at SITR and personally thank you for your contributions to this site. I'm glad there are people like you here to help ease the tension and increase my confidence with this stuff!
Maybe someday I'll take a little jaunt down to SoCal and I can buy you an adult beverage of your choice!

I received it in 2 days. Thanks Ron!
I used RV leveling blocks as ramps (2 sets) and that worked like a champ. Had plenty of room. The install went smooth as silk, between Bob's (Finless) Video and BajaRon's instructions almost everything was covered. I bought the Heim Links as well and that wasn't in any instructions, but really didn't need to be. It was a walk in the park...didn't even bust open a knuckle...
