• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

another parking brake question

Which way is the adjusting nut turned to tighten the parking brake? I've gone clockwise and counterclockwise and there is no difference. I know the next step is the adjustment at the parking brake lever.

Does the lever have to be taken off or just loosened and turned in a clockwise direction? It's kind of confusing because I just read a post where someone said to turn the lever clockwise and then remove and reposition close to the stop. The service manual says to remove the lever and turn the actuator. Just trying to clear things up before I dig in.

The service manual also mentions jacking up the rear of the spyder when adjusting the parking brake. Is this necessary?

Thanks

Adjust the cable away from the lever to tighten the brake, that is...back off the rear nut and tighten the front nut. Then lock the rear nut down.

To adjust the lever position, you do need to turn it a spline or two clockwise on the shaft, in other words away from the cable. You will also have to adjust the cable afterward.

I never have jacked up the Spyder to adjust the parking brake. I just adjusted it to get it to grab solid in a click or two.

Before I touched the parking brake lever I adjusted the cable. I had to go all the way to the end before the parking brake held. I then went in and moved the lever a couple of notches clockwise. Then, I adjusted the cable again; it ended up all the way to the end again before it held. I went in again and moved the lever a couple more notches clockwise. Again I adjusted the cable to the end before it would hold. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks

One of the techs at our dealer told me to turn that splined shaft clockwise until it stops, then adjust the cable back down towards the other end of the adjustment and put the parking brake lever back on . Then work from there to get the parking brake to set at one click.

remove the parking brake cable
Remove the Spring
Remove the Bolt holding the Arm.

The Arm attaches to a Spindle Shaft. What you want to do is adjust the arm to make it tighter. To do this you turn it clockwise. Once you get to the point where it stops. You want to remove the arm and re-positon it so it is in the same position it so it is almost or touching the stop.

Now just put it back together. You will need to re-adjust the cable. Odds are, it is now too short.

Good luck.
