• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another one bytes the dust... Front Sprocket Failure - Red Dust!

EdMat, looking to replace the front sprocket and bolt on my 2015 F3, I did not find the above mentioned part numbers on BRP website, please advise as to where I can find them, thanks in advance...Clint

The use of a lubricant implies that the pulley is loose and is being worn away(red dust) if the lubricant is omitted. Why not put bearing mount adhesive, or something similar, to "secure" it???

cheapcycleparts.com is here i got mine. you could also try brppartshouse.com

If anyone cares to learn more about spline drives, this is a great short engineering article. While I know many believe Can Am screwed it up and the drive pulley should be a no maintenance last forever item, this article gives insight as to why the pulleys fail.

I posted this years ago here on Spyderlovers and have dealt with high performance splines for decades. Continuously others with minimal or no experience on the subject debate spline wear and pulley failures. I did not write this article, nor ever dealt with DanFoss. Simply a very accurate and informative article that may help guide those owners open minded enough to understand the splines are a maintenance item requiring routine inspection and relubrication after cleaning.

Just ordered the new sprocket and bolt today so I guess I'll be doing it myself.

153€+14€ = 167€ or around $200... not cheap.

Looking for the Moly Paste and it's not easily available here... will keep searching.

Thank you.

can I ask you where in europe you ordered the parts from? The new version pulley is on back order until June.

Well ordered from my local BRP dealer here which told me they had to order from the factory.

Should have been delivered 30/04 but now they are saying 12/05 instead... Hope I haven't to wait a more few days... :/

So still with the old failing sprocket... Done a short ride today to burn a bit of old fuel not before checking if there were any play on the pulley, which there wasn't.

While taking off on a steep hill I definitely felt it like it was slipping in first gear for 2 or 3 seconds then it vigorously took off... Should this be related to the failing sprocket?
I think I've felt recently this behavior a couple of times before when maneuvering... Like if the accelerator got stuck for a few seconds... It's on ECO mode, anyone had this behavior?

Anyway not driving it any more until a swap that damned sprocket.

Took the old sprocket out... Thank God it went out nicely after applying a bit of WD-40.

Axle is good and the sprocket teeth's don't seem to be that bad also, but I'm guessing after the red dust comes it should go south quickly...

So now I'm concerned about that accelerator slipping I felt... Well, one problem at a time...

Is there any special alignment with the shaft it should have?

Can't see any markings on the shaft but the sprocket seems to have some markings.

Cleaned, lubed and torqued to recommended 111lb/ft (I'll still mark the sprocket and bolt to check if there's any movement).

Belt tension seems to not have changed and still at 180lb/ft

Was actually an easy job... Just need to ride it now and see if all seems normal.

Thanks everyone for the help.

OK ridden about 300km/186mi with the new sprocket and here are my thoughts.

Seems to shift quieter... just a little bit.
There's kind of a swoosh when coasting.
Didn't noticed any shudder.

I'll check the markings on the sprocket later to see if there's any movement but all seems right now :)

Over 1500km/930mi later...

Checked the sprocket a couple of times markings seem to be at right place.

Might be me... Not sure what BRP did with this new sprocket but for me the previous sprocket seemed to run quieter...

Had no whistle before and this new sprocket seems to swoosh more that the before.

Hello all, I just received the new white front pulley, bolt and washer for my 2015 F3. What is the recommended torque for the bolt? Thanks in advance...Clint
