There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Another geezer here

BUZZARD II

Greetings from northern Virginia. I'm another geezer here with over 50 years riding bikes and none ridings Can Am's. So with a bum leg, I just bought a RT-S so I can pack my wife again. I look forward to the next phase of riding, three wheels.

While I wait for the shop to get in and screw on some parts, I'd like to throw out a question about pulling a Bushtec trailer which I've had for years. Bushtec has a flat six pin connector and I don't know what is stock for Can Am but the trailer hitch will be coming in already wired. Does anyone make a plug in adapter to run Can Am to Bushtec? What have you guys done?

I still have my Harley so I want keep the trailer wired as is. Thanks.

Good Day Buzzard II

Some site sponsors have the parts you need to hook up a wire trailer connector.

Electrical Connection - use part #: 07660 (isolator) They don't have a connector for an RT yet that I can see.

TricLED -don't know the part number off hand (can't view the site at work) has a splice connector to fit the RT-S wire harness.

Attach the isolator to the harness connector and run the wires to the trailer. Place what ever trailer connector plug you need onto the wires.

This is the setup I used to connect my trailer harness to the RT-S. This will let you make use of the independent turn signals on your trailer.

I just got the six pin pigtail from bushtec and spliced it into the harness that came with the light/relay kit. You could make an adapter but it would be one more thing to misplace.

Keep an eye on your tongue mounting bolts on the trailer. the way the hitch mounts to the rear wheel rather than the frame on the Spyder makes for a violent ride for the trailer. I had to replace the tongue mounts on my Bushtec. Glass bottles will break in the cooler. I'm going to build a proper hitch this winter.

I just wired a friends Bushtec trailer for his Can-Am. The Bushtec has 1 ground and 4 signal wires - the sixth connector is for the interior lamp (at least that's what it was for his Bushtec).

The stock Can-Am harness is a square 4-pin. They combine the turn signals and brake lights. So your options are to use the Can-Am harness and wire the trailer to bypass the amber turn signals, or get a 5-pin connector for bike. We used the Big Bike Parts harness which provides 5 connectors (ground, left turn, right turn, brake, running lights). The big bike parts harness comes without a connector, so we bought a flat 5-pin connector from an auto parts store (I used the same setup for my Aluma trailer).

You said your trailer had a 6-pin connector. I've never seen one, but I'd have to assume the 6th pin is power for the interior lamp. If you can find a flat 6 pin, you could connect the running light wire to the 6th wire to have power for the interior lamp.

Hope this helps.

Glad to have you join us. Like you I am an old guy, 78 years old, with a fair amount of years on 2 wheels and none on 3. I bought a 2015 RTs in April of this year and love it. I ride with a group that ride primarily Harleys. None of us are young kids as we all live in an over 50 community, so we don't ride like young kids, but on our more sporting rides I have had no problem staying with them. This trike has really surprised me.

Trailer wiring

Welcome to the SL site.
Great group of ryders and fans.

I just installed a brp hitch on my STS.
I, too, am looking for a wiring adapter.
I need a Square 4 (Stock BRP) to a Flat 4 adapter.
Cheers, David C.

:welcome:

:congrats: on your new RTS!

I recently bought a Bushtec Quantum trailer. I bought a wiring module from Bushtec and spliced it into the BRP module.

:nopic: You'll find we love pics here!
