• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hand brake

I could understand not having a hand brake if you came from 50 YEARS of riding a motorcycle ( like some of us). I reached for the hand brake many times. I have learned to trust the foot brake compleatly. I stop harder and maybe quicker ( and safer ) than on any of my bikes.

PS:::: If there is a problem with the brakes----- get it fixed-- #1

Welcome welcome....

To the spyder world and this site....Take a breath and relax a bit. The brakes are a bit of an adjustment if your coming from two wheelers but most get used to them quickly. Its the same as you car and they are very effective with the abs and vss. Like anything you do have to make it your own with changes referred to as farkels and mods. Seats there are many to choose from and you can add a hand brake that will only operate the exsisting system less effectively as the foot brake. All the settings stuff is in the manual and I don't have it so don't know about it. 300/500 miles they say will get you to love it or not, only took me a few miles

AH,YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!

We now have 6 spyders in our riding group. Another rider just up graded from a 2 wheeler and LOVES it. 12 of our group were riding this past Thursday for a short 200 miler. Just take your time a take a step at a time and it will all come together. Heck, I am an old fart at 74 and love riding! I use an inflatable seat cushion for riding. I don't really need it, but will be going on a much longer ride so won't take any chances.

NEW SPYDER OWNER

:lecturef_smilie: ... Sorry but I don't think you bought the right vehicle for you.......annnnnnnnnnnd I have a feeling we will be hearing about a lot of other issues :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:...............BUT :congrats: & :welcome:.....Mike :bbq:

I will agree the brake does take getting use too.. Since coming from a Triglide with hand clutch and brakes.

It will help getting a seat 2 inches back but then that may stretch your arms more out but getting you farther back from the brake pedal.. So that where TRI Axis bars come to play.

Any way the more you ride it and get it setup the way that best fits you Then you should be happy.

Hope you tried other bikes before the Spyder??

:congrats: on your new :spyder2:.

There is a 500 mile plus "leaning curve" with :ani29:. Give it a chance and some of the things you are not happy with now may turn out to be good for you.

Agree about the seat. The OEM are all mush. Your best and least expensive change out is the BRP Comfort seat. I usually give the seat 1000 miles before making a final decision.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

sorry guys and gals. you are my info highway on my new journey. actually, the dealer demo's brake
is a lot lower than mine is. forgot to look when i had it up if there was an adjustment. was looking
at how the pedal mounted. would play hell getting that out. i have friends and machines to do
some, ahem, work. and if i dont get some lamonster pegs, i can always rest on the lower spoilers in
front of the foot boards. also have a propad gel pad to try on the seat. joyce says no farkling
around for irvin, but------. may get some help on the screen setup. hey, im almost 68, and some of the
instructions arent real clear to the elderly. met alot of nice people on the victory forum and asked
alot of ?'s , and got a lot of help, and even helped others. never sat over a blast furnace, air cooled v twin before.
the vtx 1300 was also different. i go back to 1976 riding bike , honda atc's and 4 wheelers. have a rubicon now.
have liked them all and will get there with this one. not everything is instant gratification. and that is why im here.
im probably not the first that has sought you gurus advice, and i wont be the last. too bad no one lives near me. we
only do day trips, and i have only been caught in the rain twice in the last 14 years. im pretty anal, thats
my story, and thank you all for your honesty and wise words so far. going to cool off my 2 typing fingers.

and you will help talk me down from that ledge:yikes:---he, hee

Maybe you just need some time? I've never been a two wheel rider. I got my trike license, we rented a couple Harley trikes, but was not real confident.

Went to bike week and rode demos on all Spyders besides the RS...and LOVED it! :spyder2:

We wont give up on you!

youre right. only did 50 miles 2 up. threw the gel pad on the seat, which stiffened it
up a little and also raised me enough to get a little more leg room. got what i thought
was good mileage too, not knowing how full they got the tank. with helmets on we dont
need to worry about audio, so we're good. little brake tweeking and it will be fine. tracks
straight, doesnt dart. now to get an afternoon mothers day ride. by the way, HAPPY
MOTHERS DAY !! to the ladies--irv

Patiance grasshopper..... :spyder2: I have had my spyder for a year and still find myself reaching for the hand break, the Spyder Breaks work well have had no issues. As with anything there is a break in period not only for the bike but for you wait until you have a few thousand miles on it to decide what needs to be adjusted. Welcome to the Spyder Lovers!
